Well defined trail, wooded with a nice lookout spot. Fun run!

Trail is well defined and wide. Nice quick hike in the woods. Not overly scenic but nice nonetheless.

Solid hiking trail, but this is a trail that appears to be more used for mountain biking. This isn’t bad, but you do need to keep any eye out for them.

fast pace trail very cool temps throughout the hike due to the woods

is the 9.7 mile easy to follow?

Enjoyed the bluff view. There are a lot of mountain bikers. Lots of mosquitoes.

Great trail, just be aware of all the bikers. They don’t like to say anything when they are coming, so you have to be aware.

Hiked this with my three kids, 12,9 and 5. They aren’t ones for long hikes, but they enjoyed this 5 mile out and back with a great lookout at the turn. Close enough to civilization that you have cell service in the event you suddenly hear thunder and need to check radar, as we did. I highly recommend this trail for families in the STL area looking for a nearby hike.

Fun trail good for beginners like me

This is a lovely trail! Some areas are paved, some not so smoothly though. There are some quite steep inclines, some rather rocky uneven bits, and a rather large flight of steps. I would rate it closer to moderate and would skip it if you have mobility issues. I took trekking poles and was glad. Some path revisions have been made and the trail was a bit over 2.5 miles, although perhaps just temporarily. It was a beautiful spring day after the rain and the woods were lush and green with lots of humidity! Gorgeous scenery, lots of chirpy birdies, and a good breeze at the top of the ridge.

I’m relatively new to mountain biking, but could not imagine a more enjoyable, picturesque trail.

I Loved this trail! However, I took the suggestion of a previous reviewer and Did Not Go Left on the trail starting out.
OMG, Do yourself a favor... Go Left, the incline is much gentler.

Good overall Trail with little bit of everything, along the river, along a vertical bluff, then a little elevation, forest, a little stream, culminates into a picturesque valley view with a river running through it, and then back.

Beautiful views! At first looked like it would be difficult but turned out great! Will visit this trail again.

Great trail for the day after a good rain! Some parts weren't paved but for the most part it was, which was nice to not have the hike not be as muddy! Will definitely visit again.

on Lime Kiln Trail

I ran this trail twice, back-to-back; first clockwise(CW), then counterclockwise (CCW). The first mile of the CW loop was very rugged and rocky. This section of trail was a lot of “rock hopping”. I would say, depending on what your workout plan is, that the CW loop is a bit more anaerobic vs aerobic; i.e. your legs will few it! I prefer climbing this type of terrain as opposed to descending. The CCW loop has two climbs at the beginning. The first is rocky and rugged also, but not as bad as the CW loop; plus it is shorter. The second climb is not rocky or rugged but is much longer and steady. If you like rocky, rugged trails, then you will like Lime Kiln.

I love this trail. This was my favorite as a little kid and is still one of my favorites. Maybe it’s the memories.

It’s pretty, paved, and not too hard...but does get steep in some areas.

Strenuous, with many ups and downs, but worth the hike.

Zombie Trail goes much farther than shown here. Gateway Offroad Cyclists has a nap that shows the path. It is a great trail. Lightly trafficked.

Great moderate hike, we went on a beautiful January day. Definitely more strenous if you go left first. Signage looks new, trails very distinguished. Lots of up and down.

The Trails at Rockwoods Reservation are some of the nicest trails this close to St. Louis. You can cob together the Rock Quarry with the Trail Among the Trees and the Lime kiln for longer hikes.

Disappointed to find the surface was paved. The trail runs right by some large boulders that have fractured off of the rock exposures. I used this trail to connect from Lime Kiln to Green Rock on the other side of Glencoe Road.

Steep, rocky, and slick after the rain. This trail was challenging yesterday as the surface was a mix of mud and ice. The deep valleys cut by several runoff basins connecting have created some incredible terrain and the limestone exposures are beautiful. Took the connector from Lime Kiln to Trail Among the Trees but I was disappointed to find that Trail Among the Trees is a paved surface. The trails are not marked at all and with so many different trails in this conservation area it is easy to get confused.

Very enjoyable.

Good trail - rather steep at the beginning of the trail - can see the old caves but they are fenced off now so you can not go in them anymore like in the good old days

Easy trail - part if it is paved - one area has 48 steps you have to climb if you come from the office area starting location

Good trail - fairly steep in some areas - branches off to trail among the trees or you can do the entire loop without doing the branch trail
