Florissant, Missouri Map

Close to home, paved so good for strollers. Good river view. enough hills for a decent workout!

small nice trail. Going through traffic is the biggest drawback. If you want a nice short stroll, the paved trail from the church is a nice little circle.

No trail markings. As a novice hiker, I didn't go too far because I wasn't certain I was going the right way. Muddy and an enormous amount of bugs/mosquitos.

Decent trail, wish it was a little more Maintained

Love this trail. It is paved but then you can go farther down river that is more hiking type.

I love this area. I grew up here. This is where I developed my love of hiking.

a few things. first, google mapping to the trail gets you to a closed gate on weekends. if you then map to the park you can drive to the parking lot of the playground/disc golf course and start behind hole 8 or 9. there are some nice activities for kids but overall the trail is NOT marked well. eventually we made it to where was originally gated off, appeared to be a sort of outdoor classroom through Ferguson/florissant school district. on the way back, we got lost (a few trails intersect) and had to turn back.

nice paved path that leads down to a scenic point on the Missouri river. you can walk out on the jetty or sit down on one of the many benches along the way.

Excellent wildlife opportunities. And some great ruins to discover from 19th century monks.

The trails are really overgrown and the mosquitos are terrible.

Great family hike. First time on this Trail and the whole family enjoyed it. It's paved the whole way, and well kept. Even after recent flooding, the trail was cleared of all debris. The river was also at a high point and only a few feet from the trail. Great views and a great addition the Great Rivers Greenway trails.

This is a great place to take the kiddos to get outdoors. There is a farm area with sheep ect. The trail is easy to follow and very short. There is an easy trail to a pond that is fun. Also a play area for the kids. This wouldn't be an area I seek out for myself for a hike as it isnt very long. If you'd like a longer trek you can hike to the adjoining park Dunagent. Some bridges that are cool but other than that....not much.

This is a paved flat trail that starts at the church, passes the Florissant community garden, goes under Lindbergh, thru the park, and goes to sunset. I typically bike this with the kid to the first park and play. It is not a hiking trail. You pass some busy intersections.
Fun to bike though.

This has a few different trails and I wish someone would have explained it to me, so I will explain it here. There is no postings of the trails.
There are technically 4 trails. If you park on the left side coming from 370 there are 3 trails.

1. A short paved trail through the bottom of the hill. It is very short and very overgrown with honeysuckle.
2. A trail that looks like a country road to the left that goes pretty far to the Missouri river. I haven't gotten to the river as the mosquitoes were bad and it was overgrown and I had my 10 mos old with me. There are some pretty open glades or flood plains. It eventually tapers to a smaller trail. very hot in the summer.
3. This trail goes up the hill. After you go over a bridge and start the incline. It's not fun when muddy. It isn't marked well and can be very overgrown. I've done this trail in fall and enjoyed it. At the top i turned left and there is a partial overlook of the flood plain.

If you park on the right parking area on the other side of the street you will have the 4th trail.
4. A paved trail that ends at a clearing with a bench. it's a nice walk not so much if a hike. You can hike after that clearing. Lots of spiders and over growth. It would be a decent hike if kept up.

Overall it saddens me that these trails aren't kept but I'd think it maybe difficult with the flooding. Too many mosquitoes are too be expected, it's a flood plain. The over growth is cumbersome. I tried to like it.

easy to moderate trail. beautiful but poorly marked. from parking lot head towards tennis courts and follow disc golf, trail starts there. There are 3 trails that I saw, Northside, woodland, and Notle. Notle ends in the back of a building of somesort. Wear tennis shoes, had some education points for the kiddos. Overall a good trail just needs better markings.

Cute little trail. Don't expect any breathtaking views from this one but it's perfect if you're trying to get away from concrete for an hour or so. Lots of animal scat and tracks. Trail heads are on the edge of Dunegant Park. Kind of difficult to find, but one is right behind the playground and the other is right next to a disc golf hole that's set back into the woods. Trail intersects with itself several times so it's easy to find yourself walking in circles but if you backtrack you can pick your way back up again. My dog and I will definitely be frequenting this trail though since it's walking distance from our place.

I walks this trail several times a year... since it is only about a mile from my house. It is not the typical hiking trail since it is paved all the way to the Missouri River. It is a great family walk/hike to the river. A must see when the river is low, kids can go out on the rocks and play!! Would definitely recommend this for families!!

The trails aren't marked and it is very easy to end up on the private property.

Go watch the sunset on top of the hill on the trail with the bridge.

Worst trail. Garbage was all over the trails, standing smelly water, HUGE flies following the whole way. Wasn't kept up well at all.

Thursday, June 16, 2016

The trail is clean and I would say easy. The Little Creek Nature area is worth a trip with little ones. One part of the trail is missing a post mark that caused us to lose our way but it was an easy backtrack and I notified the office to address.

This was the worst trail I have ever hiked. I even ended up on a completely different trail by following the this one. It is disgusting. Standing water, mosquito breeding ground, low hanging vegetation, no animals. It's not marked well, obviously. If you want to get eaten alive by bugs and slide in mud while taking in the stench of the standing water, hike here. I have hiked quite a few trails in Missouri and this is, by far, the worst.

a great little trail. I walked it but will use it as a running trail. saw a beautiful deer too!

Horrible directions. Couldn't even find it. Not very happy at all.

Sunday, December 06, 2015

first of all the directions did not lead me to the right place but i saw the park area on the map so i found it at dungenant park. anyway i really enjoyed this trail. several paths & loops & bridges. i almost didn't go because of bad review but my wife and i really enjoyed it & will probably go back

First left off fork was a little creepy...trash and stagnant water. And it led to private property during hunting season! The middle trail on fork was steep but worth hike.

i grew up with the old Sunset Park...it felt weird for me to walk down a golf cart path...i was pretty disappointed with the expirience.any how...if you aren't going for the view of the Sunset St. Stanilaus is much better...

Wednesday, November 04, 2015

Paved walking trail down to the river. Downhill the way to the river and up the whole way back. Go here all the time at sunset. Great place to go and relax when the river is low you can go out on the rocks in the middle of the river. Construction is over now so it's always open.

Sunday, October 25, 2015

yeah i like this trail..not fancy..no markers. nice scenery. next time i'm taking a plastic bag to pick up trash on my backtrack..its a real no frills dirt path...easy to follow. not difficult at all but not boring either...
