This is a nice little loop for a quick workout with lots of good bluff views and low creek sights within the 3 miles. Great for when you don't have time for the entire wilderness area

I give this trail a five because one section of it is outstanding. Overall it is a 3.5 because of poor trail marking ,erosion, roughness, and deep ruts caused by horses.
To get to the really nice section start at the church at the south entry point and head north, down into the valley. After you cross the small creek (probably dry in summer), continue 50 yards or so and look to your left for a inconspicuous trail headed down the creek (towards the west). A tree was marked with surveyors tape at the entry point. Follow this trail all the way to Cedar Creek. I think you will enjoy. Not as many horse ruts and the stream and moss covered boulders and bluffs are beautiful.

One of my favorite trails!! Definitely recommend to everyone. The cave is so cool. Take a flashlight and water shoes for sure!!

Great hike. Trail runs along side/intersects with Icebox Trail. They are not the same. You will get your feet wet crossing the creek. I hiked in the winter, I’m sure in the spring the trail is extremely muddy. Great hike!! I would hike this again! Make sure to grab a map. This trail links up with several other trials and off shoots. There are signs that are very helpful, but nothing beats a map.

Husband and I took our dog on a nice day in December. Very easy hike. I didn't think there was much to look at this time of year, but he liked it and of course our dog loved it.

Great views, poorly marked trail and deep horse ruts. Great camping spots.

The blazing on the trail is confusing and there is excessive wear in different spots. What is particularly confusing are the little connecting trails and some of the old trails. I hiked this trail many times over the last three years and the marking situation on the trail seems to have deteriorated, but it was never really good. Don't get me wrong, it's a really beautiful trail and it has the potential to be an outstanding trail especially if they made a clear loop of it instead of the kind of the hodgepodge that it is now. I will see about volunteering - if they want someone to work on the trail and especially if they would like to figure out some way to make it consistent and the blazes clearer.

this remains our favorite trail in the state so far. plan on getting wet so best to go in summer. beautiful scenery and rivers. definitely got turned around and a little lost twice though so take a map!

I only hiked the section from Rock Quarry Rd to Mick Denver Memorial Rd. Was beautiful this morning with the trees changing colors. It’s an easy hike along the gravel path. There was some muddy areas but not that bad.

Nice trail with good overlook. It was surprising busy. Saw eight different people. Most were bikers climbing up to the overlook form the Katy trail.

Good hike, not overly scenic, but typical of area. Couple bluff views, some water crossings. backpacker camps exist along trail.

Nice trail of decent length, fairly busy, had creek crossing. Would do again when in the area.

Nice view. Take the trail down to the MKT to see the natural arch to the west.

Like to get all my dog out here.

Good for dog walks!

Lightly trafficked my butt! Love this trail.

Nice loop, take it clockwise.

My friends and I weren't able to complete the entire trail, because you have to cross a creek to complete it all the way and my sister wasn't wearing the proper shoes for that. But it's still a really nice, easy hike other than that!

It's a great workout for a fairly quick hike.

Lots of ticks. Well maintained. Nice hike.

It’s a really nice short trail with a wonderful overlook at the end. The eagles never disappoint and put on an air show when I sit there quietly. You can access from Katy trail or walk from a small parking lot which was hard to find the first time I went there.

The trail was nice, but very hard to find (not well marked). Lots of birds around the overlook though

Nice & flat area with native plants in abundance in summer before the parks dept. mows them down. Abundant birds in summer months also.

My friend and I ventured here when we met up in Columbia and this was a spur of the moment wander. The trail was a boardwalk and the cave was very cool.

I love this trail. I absolutely love this trail as it’s dog friendly, and usually meet really lovely dog owners and hikers. It’s a very easy trail, and there are quite a few trails that split from the main path. The creek is usually refreshing for the dogs. I also used to run on this trail in college and the gravel road is nicely paved.
Trail: 5 stars
Difficulty: easy
Access to trail: paved roads

Got lost once so the 2.3 mile track was more like 3. Beautiful and a good time.

Awesome loop trail. Signed well and trail is taken care of. Precipitation specifics as there are several creek bed crossings. Great views. We will be back.

Beautiful trail for MO that goes through a variety of different communities of flora. Long socks recommended, as it does get overgrown and ticks are present.

This trail is beautiful. I am visiting from Utah where I am used to all trails going up big mountains. It was nice to have a trail that got my heart rate up but wasn’t a major workout at the same time. The trail is so well-marked it would be hard to get lost. I hope I can come back to this one next time I visit the area.
