This was not what I was expecting. It was basically just a walk around an open field. The picture made it look shaded but there was nearly no shade. There are some historic signs that tell about the mounds,, but I did not see any mounds nor signs as to exactly where they once were. Also, it was not obvious where the trail started from the parking lot. The trail was not maintained at all, but at least it had been mowed on both sides of the trail. Not a good option for a hot July day....

We loved this trail. We rode 31 miles from New Albany almost to Pontotoc and back. The trail is set up nice every little town had a rest area with rest rooms and water fountains and rest areas in between. The people we met who lives close by seem to take pride in their trail I can’t wait to go back.

Well I have seen people on this trail but I loooooooks sooooooo coool

Took a group of about 15 scouts to The Tanglefoot in February. Great safe ride for a group of varying skill levels. There are a surprising number of hills. Some of them are fairly long. We rode from Algoma to Houston and took a side trip to the courthouse in Houston. Getting from the trail to the Courthouse was a little dicey, but worth the photo opp. Well maintained trail, but bring your own water in the off season.

The trail is great, well marked with lots of rest areas-particularly in Pontotoc which had USB Charging stations and a nice picnic area. I did the lower section 1st and the Houston to New Houlka 10mi area was not maintained well, the path was covered in dead limbs and branches. The 2nd day I did the New Albany to Houlka and the reason I rate it 3 stars is the unchained, mean and aggressive dogs on this trail. I had 2 different packs chase me until I was eventually able to outrun them & another group who didn't leave their yard but barked so aggressively that I was concerned. After the 3rd encounter I turned around and cancelled the rest of my stay as I did not feel safe riding here. I found a trail ranger and told him about my experience and he told me has reported the dogs @ mile 18 but they don't do anything about it. The others were @ mile 15 and mile 6-7. If you stay in the upper portion of the trail you should be fine. I have ridden a lot of rail trails all over the country and have never encountered this situation. So beware!

We are bless to have this trail. It is safe place to ride well maitained.

Have been to the Tanglefoot Trail several times. I just enjoy riding on the Tanglefoot trail. It is just like riding through the woods. I am from Memphis Tenn and like to come down to New Albany and ride. Mississippi is very lucky to have this trail All the peiople I have met at the whistle stops have been very nice. I stopped at the Aglloma Grocery store in Agloma Mississippi. Nice place to stop in for a refreshing drink or a snack. Talked to the owner of the store and he could have not been any nicer and welcomed us. I will definitely be back to ride the Tanflefoot Trail many many more times

Great, nearly brand-new trail with easy elevations. Well-maintained and long at over 40 miles. Haven't went the whole distance yet, but my daughter and I bike 6-10 miles of it nearly every day. Plenty of stops, lots of varied natural scenery. Grateful for this one.

Absolutely love the Tanglefoot - rode from New Houlka to Houston recently... The scenery is so peaceful and calming! Truly God's country....the trail is well paved and easy to manage...plenty of places to sit and linger a while!! Looking forward to biking the rest of the trail soon!

We experienced the Tanglefoot as a group - one in wheelchair, three on bicycles, two hikers, and one leashed dog...great paved trail - highly accessible. Lovely fall scenery. Brand new trail with many excited locals enjoying a Sunday afternoon outdoors. Grateful for the efforts to make this Rails-to-Trails conversion possible!

Good road biking trail not much elevation change. The Tanglefoot is paved so it's great for road biking and running. Plenty of country and scenic vistas to see along the way. The trail has plenty of rest areas and the asphalt surface is new and in great condition. The southern portion of the trail from Pontotoc to Houston runs through some nice forests and shaded much of the way. Take water, lunch and enjoy....
