Awesome trail! It was great terrain and the view was beautiful! The sign recommends for hikers to do the 2 mile loop. However, we did the 6 mile and enjoyed it very much! Nice to hike because of the variations of trails, we didn’t run into anyone until the end. Come prepared with good shoes, water and plenty of bug spray!

Great hike for a beginner. It is important to mind the trail markings and if you arent careful you can get off the trail without a clear way to get back. Best bet is to give yourself plenty of daylight to get back just in case. The trail is marked with green tree markers and in a couple spots have arrows to help...pay attention to them. You can see the lake for 75% of the hike, but it's the other 25% you have to be careful.

You can choose a 1, 2, 3, or 5 mike hike by following the colored trail markers. On the 2 mile hike i saw a snake, a raccoon, a large frog, many butterflies and birds, and plenty of mosquitoes. Lovely trail, bring bug spray.

Boy Scout hike to Aiery lake!

Full of huge spiders, butterflies, lizards and even armadillos. Gorgeous trail! Bring plenty of water.

Beautiful and well-maintained. Will definitely return, but with a couple of garbage bags! Clearly floods on occasion and there’s a variety of lake trash washed up in places. What a beautiful resource in hernando!

Great trail, some trees were down but other than that, no complaints. Easy to follow as it’s marked well.

Short, sweet, and dirty. Lots of litter!

Nice trail through the wilderness of the park.

Trail is difficult to find without being given direction. Additionally, there aren’t many markers along the trail so it is very easy to get “lost” or off-trail in the woods. However, I enjoy an adventure so it was fun. Also, I enjoyed the scenery very much and would do it again. Come prepared with bug spray tho!

Pleasantly surprised at how nice this trail is. They have recently built a new pavilion and it looks like there are plans to keep improving it. Lots of wildflowers, which made for butterflies everywhere. A really enjoyable hike!

This was not what I was expecting. It was basically just a walk around an open field. The picture made it look shaded but there was nearly no shade. There are some historic signs that tell about the mounds,, but I did not see any mounds nor signs as to exactly where they once were. Also, it was not obvious where the trail started from the parking lot. The trail was not maintained at all, but at least it had been mowed on both sides of the trail. Not a good option for a hot July day....

Water sources for filtering were scarce, and ~85% of the trail was without shade. Use caution when hiking during the summer months.

Otherwise, the path itself is fairly well-maintained.

Great trail! Enjoyed the much needed shade on a hot summer day!

Started out good, but you can tell the area has been flooded. Once we got into the deep woods, we lost the trail and had to hike out to the road. Other than that it was beautiful...saw frogs, butterflies deer, and the native bird of MS....mosquitoes! Take some repellant.

The only “trail” is in between camp sites and they are not we maintained. Various signs ask you not to enter areas of the park unless you are camping there. It is a beautiful area, but the “trail” is not worth the $4 it cost to enter the park.

a typical trip around a lake nothing worth writing home about

Had to lower the rating after coming over and seeing some ticks on my leg

Great trail to run and work out in MS!

This trail is wonderful. A raised platform over a swanp most of the way. I saw cypress trees, dragonflies, lily pads, a hummingbird, and a rabbit. I heard tree frogs, bull frogs, and birds. So nice I walked it twice.

Someone in the reviews said this trail was not close to Sardis, but 3 1/2 hours from Sardis. I think they went to the wrong place.

Trail is not maintained at all.

Very cute!! Nice summer morning walk :-)

it's a nice short trail and has a really cool wooden walkway over the wetland

it is short and it has its moments of rigorness but parts of it are trashy. I don't understand why people aren't more appreciative of parks and nature!

My sister's and I walked and rode our bikes around these trials just about every weekend as kids. It's great place for family adventures.

This trail was great!!

Great started trail for us! The streams are unexpected and pretty. Only got in 2 miles but def coming back to do the whole thing! Baby steps.

Great Trail. This is the 2nd time I have done it. Last 2 miles before POW is best part as its a little more challenging.

This was a descent morning hike that took approximately 2 hours to complete. The trail (green route) wraps around the lake, but hiking the loop requires walking on the park roads. There was a small entrance fee to the park. Some of the footbridges were in bad shape, but it made stream crossings more fun.
