Park opens May 1, but I parked at the gate and got out and walked in anyways. It’s a very beautiful park! Saw deer, geese, hawks, someone else I saw said they saw a wild turkey.

Fantastic little trail set with a good number of options for routes, and for sitting area to grab a bite, some open areas to play fetch with your 4legged friends, and a good number of creative geocaches too!

The county finally did clear almost all of the trails in May. It's nice to go for a walk with my daughters.

While still decent, these trails have never been the same since the May 2013 snowstorm that dropped 2 feet of snow and downed trees and limbs everywhere. The County still hasn't been out to clean it up, and there are many trails that are blocked or disrupted by downed trees.

Headed into the park to do some geocaching. Many downed limbs (some sizeable) blocking several portions of trail due to recent heavy May snowstorm. The northern most trail that skirts the lake is also very muddy and flooded in certain parts.

This is my favorite hike in the immediate Albert Lea area. White Woods Loop is between 2.5 and 3 miles when you take the very outer trails, but also offers several different trail options that wind and intermingle throughout the various sections of the park, making shorter hikes possible. Visit my profile, click on "tracks," and look for White Woods County Park to see some of the alternate trail lengths.
