Well used wooded paved path with many birds, river fowl, boat launch, play ground, fishing and a band shell with music Thursday evenings in the summer. Bathrooms and maps available in the main building which is not always open. Walk over the newly restored dam to get on the trail to Elm Creek Park about 6 miles away?
In the spring when the river is high, the southernmost area of the trail has been occasionally closed due to flooding.
The above app summary is wrong where it mentioned Hastings. That town is 45 miles south of Coon Rapids. Hmmmm?

Enjoyed the hike during winter time. Be sure to not go during the icy season. All trails would be mostly covered in ice.

Tucked away on the north end of Duluth, this was a pleasant hike. The views were beautiful and at times peaceful. It was a fairly high trafficked area, perhaps it was the day. Trail comes complete with various terrains, flowing water, and a nice waterfall. We hiked this with our family, a five year old and an English bulldog (who by no means was built for the great outdoors,) and all managed nicely. This trail is worth seeking out. (Hiked April/2015)

Got a bit turned around but well worth it.

We did this loop twice today, a few days after all that rain froze in the Twin Cities. The trail was walkable without too much difficulty due to ice. It’s a short loop, not quite my favorite considering all the great trails we have around the cities. It has some mild elevation changes and twists and turns which kept things interesting.

way more urban than I am used to hiking. With no leaves (December), traffic was heard throughout most of the park. but for an urban park it was a pleasant little surprise. I'm not sure how AllTrails measured 8.4 miles though - it must have been through lots of doubling back between loops.

Great place for trail running

This is a great mountain biking trail but it is extremely dangerous to hike on because the trail is narrow and the mountain bikes go really fast. I do not recommend hiking on this trail. It is not worth getting hurt. Hike on the other side on the road.

went for a beautiful walk with a friend! the area was gorgeous and we went at the perfect time of day

Great 4 mile loop around the lake

I really like the trail it's nice for a guy that just started mountain bike riding

This lake has been officially renamed to its Dakota name: Bde Maka Ska. Busy on beautiful days, but two paved lanes - so bikers don’t have to dodge walkers and vice versa. It has one of the loveliest views of lake in the fairground and the city in the back.

This is overall an easy trail. The only moderate section is along trail section #2 as there are a couple of climbs. I run this trail 1-2 time a week. I generally start at the parking lot by the swim area and take the Esker trail (#1) along Bertram lake to #2 to the #3 loop and return back on #2 and take the Esker trail along Long lake. This is a 5 mile run. It’s also a great hike that has some variation lots to look at. It’s a wise well maintained trail.

There are also 8 miles of single track that is used primarily by mountain bikers. I’ve only run a few miles of that during sanction trail runs. These are a bit more challenging as the topography changes a bit quicker than the walking/hiking trail.

Beautiful crisp fall day. The Mt. Tom trail was just right amount of climbing and views. There probably could be a few more signs marking trail intersections. Will definitely be back to this trail!!

Great hiking trails.

It needs to be maintained more, but it’s an awesome place to escape!

Light rain falling but still safe until the rock climb to the top, hug the left side, as the rock is slippery. Beautiful overlook.

The trail is beautiful but completely closed at 35w. It is under several feet of water and impassable. I am not sure why all trails doesn’t show the trail starting earlier since there are trailheads to the east which would allow longer hikes. You can see these on the map and access these between 77s and MOA off of old shakopee road.

The 2 miles of straight paved path was a bit lackluster but still a great view!

Fantastic trails that were a ton of fun!! Great family fun!!

As of today, the trail was open but there is still some minor flooding near the back part of the trail. So you can get about halfway but then have to turn back the way you came and cannot make the full loop. In any event, the trail is very nice and a quick three-mile getaway from the hustle and bustle. Parking is $7 if you don’t have a permit. Trail head is right next to the lot.

Not bad. Overlook was very pretty with great views, but the trail was a wide cross country ski trail, so it didn't feel real rustic.

Great river views. Easy stroll with no inclines.

Well kept trails. It was pretty quiet and peaceful even though the park is still in St. Cloud. I’m excited to go back and xc ski here this winter.

Trail is becoming overgrown by tall grass. It’s also very difficult to follow as there are not cross country ski trails & mountain biking trails that cross over it in several places. Epilepsy who previously commented about seeing bikers were likely on the amity west trail instead.

Varying types of landscapes packed into this trail (prairies, rolling hills, wetlands, forest) makes for quite a fun hike! Not too many different skill levels are needed on any of the trails though.

Had a great hike here with my dog on Saturday. The weather was perfect for a fall hike. Many different trails so things can get a little confusing. The harder of the trails are very rocky and severely overgrown but that just adds to the challenge. The fall foliage was just starting so the scenery was spectacular. I will do this one again.

Great hike. you can go for a long hike. more bikers than hikers.
