fairly easy loop trail. Many intertwined mountain bike and ski trails so know which one you are on.

You can run, walk, or even road bike the lake walk. Currently it's under construction due to a severe storm this past year that tore it apart so a small piece of it is blocked off but you can still get through! Just have to share the way with bicyclists. I've spent my whole life on this lake walk enjoying it and it never gets old.

great challenging trail. good climb

Easy access hiking from the Superior Hiking Trail parking lot, very well marked, well maintained loop. By my GPS, the loop was about 3.2 miles from the parking lot and back. It is a different loop than shown on the trail description, but not hard to navigate. I am traveling through (not local) and grateful for the ease of this trail - thanks to the folks who put the work in to make it so nice!

nice, low end of moderate, hike with nice views of Duluth and the harbor. well-marked trail with shade from trees on most of the trail. the wildflowers were just starting to bloom!

Love this Hike, it’s one of my favorite spots to hike along the SHT. Beautiful views, great work out, lots of ups and downs, little streams and cricks, trees, wild flowers, and beautiful views. We bring our dog and let him hike off leash on this trail. It’s a great one!

Not my favorite trail, but still nice. A lot of sandy sections.

Absolutely wonderful trail that runs along the southwestern most tip of Lake Superior. It's paved and ends in Canal Park, a staple of Duluth. It connects with other trails in the city so you can use it to go for a nice bike ride or run!

Somewhat ugly but relatively quiet

First, the positive. The path has a wide variety of wildlife and is relatively peaceful. I would choose to go for evening runs on this path instead of a hike. It is paved and very wide. A great place to be left alone or walk dogs. Photographing nesting or migratory bird populations is easy and enjoyable here.

The negatives of this trail: Relatively flat and would be very ugly without the wildlife population because it just isn't a scenic area of town. There are a lot of houses and a couple loud roads nearby. Was told by the Parks and Rec Office in Duluth that they are paving large portions of area surrounding the trail to make a large parking lot close to waterfront.

If you want to see the "good" of this trail, go this year before construction is slated to begin.

Nice trail for an urban area. Views of harbor and neighborhoods below. Birds flying overhead. Used Uber to return to my car. Great way to spend a few hours.

Nice trail overall. A bit hard to walk in some areas because of sand.

Good to hike if you live nearby. This trail would make a fun date night as well. The trail snakes along the lake and passes most touristy nearby downtown businesses. Lots of options to explore the shore and grab food. It can get crowded in the summer.

I did this trail and it is very easy because there is no elevation change. Fun things to explore along the way like old boat house structures

Pretty simple loop, go in the fall to see the trees turn colors and the birds fly around

nice easy hike in Duluth. Very accessible. offers good views of city & surrounding area

Nice hike through the woods, with some views of Lake Superior. Several trails criss-cross over each other & run close together, so it's hard to stay on your intended trail. However, it's nice to have a bunch of trails so close together if you have time to wander around. We saw a recently-killed fawn carcass on the trail, so I wouldn't bring my dog. Trail looks heavily used by, and well suited for mountain biking.

The trail is a bit muddy still but we had a great time! The waterfall was really pretty and the trail system was full of ups and downs and twists and turns. We will definitely be going back!

I have hiked a number of sections on this trail. It is easily accessible, with numerous trail-heads with designated parking areas, and campsites every few miles, along it's entire 275 miles. The trail is well marked along a wide variety of terrain and environments. The landscape and scenic overlooks are magnificent. Whether for a day hike, or extended camping trip, this is an awesome trail to hop on any time of year.

My favorite trail in Duluth. You are wandering the woods surrounded closely by water. I also love that it stays rather dry even with rainfall. Not terribly muddy when weather has moved through. Be prepared for sandy socks and a great outdoor exploration.

Beautiful views

Live not even 5 minutes away from Elys Peak, great spot! Beautiful view! Also great for a tougher trail run!

Many different trails to take and they all loop back. You can make it a 1 mile loop or up to 6 mile loop. Hiking in summer, separate mountain bike single track, cross country ski in winter with part of the trails lighted at night.
