Great for birding!!

The trail is beautiful but completely closed at 35w. It is under several feet of water and impassable. I am not sure why all trails doesn’t show the trail starting earlier since there are trailheads to the east which would allow longer hikes. You can see these on the map and access these between 77s and MOA off of old shakopee road.

I run this paved trail 2-3 times a week, really like it. It s nice fairly flat route. Twice around is just under four miles.

Nice dirt trails with a light elevation gain as you head South. Wide paths and no roots with a nice view of the ponds, rivers and a creek. Lots of birds too, spotted an Osprey, Great Egret, Great Blue Heron, and many other species on my run.

Easy loop with mostly walkers. Lots of families walking. Quiet, clean, and safe. Can get crowded after work and on weekends. Lots of tortoises with some rather big ones!

A beautiful nature preserve in the city. A true enclave. You wouldn’t guess a ski hill is on the other side of the hill. Really well manicured mulch trail, yet natural surroundings. Also a great outdoor play area for the kids made out of natural materials, and by “play” area I do not mean swing-sets.

several options to run. if you run West of 35W it is pretty flat. if you run east of 35W it is flat if you keep close to the river or more hilly if you keep to the north. I enjoy nice quiet runs down there, there are bikes sharing the trail but overall a nice comradery amongst people who enjoy the great outdoors.

Very peaceful and easy walk. Makes you forget there’s a highway near by.

when I went there were a ton of bikers that will run you over. I was hiking with the dogs and won't go back.

Too bikers: people on foot always have the right away.

We walked 8 of the 16 miles. The trail has variety including partly narrow dirt path through trees to wide gravel path near the Minneaota River. The change in scenery and terrain keeps it interesting.

I went on this hike on a very damp day. it was very secluded and beautiful. You really don't feel like you are surrounded by the twin cities metropolis. I recommend this trail for trail running and nature lovers.

Great paved trail around a scenic lake. I stay near here for work and it's a really nice change of pace from the workout room to get outside for a run. Lots of sidewalks around too. Great loop.

Well shaded on various paths, short enough to complete under an hour at a leisurely pace.

This trail was surprisingly very enjoyable! I say surprisingly simply because it is a mere mile or two from hwy 494! The trails were well maintained and we had a chance to be among the trees on some trails and in the wide open prairie on others. We saw a large snapping turtle, turkeys, frogs and numerous birds in the short 3.5 mile hike. Definitely would do this again and explore some of the trails we missed out on!
Also a major plus was the trail doesn't allow bikes, so no worries of someone flying by behind you!

Don't forget some good mosquito spray! They are rough through the wooded areas as of June 17, 2017!
Lots of birds , a couple snakes and a whitetail deer were all seen on the 8 mile hike. Very nice trail for being just outside of downtown minneapolis. I wish there was some way to make this trail into a loop as it sucks to turn around and re-see the trail you already saw. Lots of trees to keep the sun off of you.

Great country trail. Initial hill is daunting, especially at the end. a lot of trees over the path, lots of sand, and flooded under the 35w bridge and east

Nice and secluded in most areas. Feel-good foothills and beautiful scenery around you. Dog and baby both enjoyed. Highly recommend for a city walk/hike.

Fun practice/casual trail for MTBing. Mostly flat and not many people so it's perfect for beginners or people who just want to take a simple ride in the woods, though there are quite a few small turns, jumps and obstacles (which you can avoid if you want). The trail runs both ways and there are several areas with tall brush and grass so keep your eyes peeled for anyone coming from the opposite direction. It's hard to get lost on this trail as most paths branch off but eventually reconnect to the main trail just watch out for the ones that lead directly over the riverbank! This combined with the ever changing riverbank make it great for variety. There is an unmarked and seldom talked about exit path about halfway through ( right by the train tracks, if going W to E take the first left after you pass under the tracks, it will bring you to Normandale ) be prepared for mud and sand most of the trail. The raft is pretty neat too!

Very nice hike

A surprisingly fun trail as l am used to mountain trails with lots of steep climbs and descents in California. Lots of curves and tight spots between two trees keep you awake. l was there shortly after a rain so the trail was in pretty good shape but the brainless cycle cross riders are doing their best to destroy the trail with their skinny tires in many spots.

Great trails for being so close to the city. Many shorter intersecting trails give a good variety as you go.

Decently fun singletrack. Pretty flowy but has a lot of little baby trails that lead to no where so can be a bit confusing
