Terrible hiking trail, maybe better for mountain biking. $5parking fee. Poor trail marking for the hiking trails. They used flimsy temporary orange flags to try to mark trails. Few true hiking directional markers. Intrusive road noise, houses, and fences on this trail. Not a nature get away at all unless you are used to city life I guess. I won’t be back. Michigan has much better hiking.

Well groomed, double wide, hard packed. Nice pines and hardwoods.

A lovely short hike! Looks like there are a few side trails if one wishes to make it longer. Can’t wait to come back with friends.

A beautiful place to hike, even in the winterw

Awesome hike in, beautiful river to view and hilly. Snowshoed in which made it 8 miles round trip.

Awesome trail but a bit icy. I’d recommend some shallow studded crampons if you go!

Loved the trees and bridges. Great for a quick loop. Definitely hilly and trail could be kind of ICU and slippery at times, so I walked alongside the path.

Directions have you starting on the side of Howell Rd. I recommend starting off Jefferson as we did. We looped through the cemetery (kin buried there) and sadly on our way back to starting point the app froze on me and stopped my recording. Back to our initial starting point was approximately 3.3 miles.

We did the 10 mile loop as part of a winter backpacking group. Hiked out to the dispersed campsite south of the lake the first night and then finished the loop the following day. Great trail. First part is along the river, then in woods, followed by a nice loop around the lake. Fresh snow made it a bit tiring to snowshoe, but the sunshine and peacefulness made it all worth it.

The pine trees were absolutely gorgeous in the winter with all the snow on them. I could have spent all day there.
