tons of mosquitoes as you get farther back towards the 7 mile area. at times there can be standing water on portions of the trail if there was a storm lately. trail is poorly marked but there are usually lots of other people on the trail too.

Great for skating on!

Very nice trail, nothing too crazy but a great opportunity to get outside and hike around a bit. There is a fee to get in the park.

Great trail but make sure you bring a map - there are a lot of smaller loops and in & outs located within the major loop.

Pretty easy trail. Down hill to the lake, then up hill on the way back. Beautiful views from bluffs

used this trail for training for my 50 miler. it's a 10 mile loop(ignore the 6.9 claim in the description) and it has walking trails that cross 0every so often so you can shorten it to any distance easily.
most of the traffic are mountain bikers.

First time running at this park. Trails weren’t bad for running. Mostly grass trails from what I saw during my 3 mile run. Trails could be marked better, it was easy to get turned around.

Hiked in mid May to camp at site 1. So worth it! Great views. Challenging hills.

We only had a couple of hours to spend around Windigo, so this seemed like a decent option.

In mid August you'll find an abundance of thimbleberries, along with a couple of other non-edible berries in season, so be sure to educate yourself before you do any berry picking.

Well-kept trail with a nice mix of scenery. No moose sightings for us, but I'd imagine that the overlook at Grace Creek wouldn't be a bad place to look for some.

If you are looking to spend time in the sleeping bear dunes area with some degree of seclusion, this is the place for you! Four days was just enough time to hike the trail and enjoy all there is to offer from the island. The other reviews stand true and cover most of the bases. I highly recommend NMI!

Got a little lost on an unfinished trail, but in a good way. Great because you can walk 2 miles or 20 miles.

Wonderful hike to a beautiful secluded beach. Very exposed and sandy mounting the dunes on the return, but worth every step. Consider returning through the same wooded trail in rather than finishing the loop if it’s hot, or bring lots of extra water.

First time running this trail. Will not be the last!

This trail winds and is steep. The way back to the car will always be at an incline which may be a little difficult for some. The view of the lake was cool too.

One of the most beautiful bike rides I have been on. Very easy, but you do have to watch for people on tandem bikes and children.

Very nice, easy trail. It took about an hour to walk it.

Absolutely gorgeous forest! Flowers which attract butterflies. Deer. Paved path with some hills. Well maintained. Bathrooms on the southern end.

Very challenging and fun day hike! Beautiful views from multiple dune peaks.

This is a great trail with lots of peaceful clearings, winding loops, and quiet river scenes. There are lots of mosquitoes after wet weather, so use bug spray.

Enjoyed this hike with family including 2-, 3-, and 7-year-old and several young adults. There are a lot of trails and we needed the app GPS to get back on track, but some nice stops would have been missed if we hadn't strayed a bit . The "old man of the mountain" (a local) led us to the East Bay overlook and we went off-trail for most of the fairy gardens and a nice flower garden. We never actually found the trailhead, but found a parking area behind The Commons that brought us close. Paths were mostly wooded so it wasn't as hot as I feared at midday.

Nice trail. Easy walking. Good variety of scenery. Trail markings are so-so, but the app kept me on track

Gotta do it! The trees are fabulous. Tom and Joyce

Nice trail. Beautiful scenery. Saw deer by the river. An important factor for me were the porta-jons along the trail.

Great challenging hike. The icy water of Lake Michigan is a wonderful mid-hike treat.

I usually do the perimeter of this loop system. it definitely is fun, a mostly wooded, moderate trail. porta jon at the parking area. even when the parking area is full I don't usually run into a lot of people. one of my top 3 for the area.

Outstanding views!

Lots of shade and easy to run. Ground is generally level.

Simply unbelievable. The moment when you leave the forested area and see the pictured rocks for the first time is breathtaking.
