Did the loop today before the rain storm. Some areas between markers 1-2 and 3-4 I think had some muddy areas but definitely passable. Love the overlooks on the ridge trail section.

Nicely groomed trails nestled in a forest. The trails are wide enough for biking and hiking at the same time. Winding, definitely inclining about 500 feet withing 7 to 8 miles. The trails are signed and posted with detailed maps throughout, easily knowing the location. One of my favorite trails in the entire area. There's even a fun track track of jumps and embankments.

Very well maintained and well marked trail. Bring bug repellent, I was eaten alive my mosquitos the first couple miles. Trail was completely washed out in one spot so I wouldn’t recommend wearing non waterproof shoes. Besides that it was a very nice and pretty hike.

The trails are wide enough for bikers and people on their feet. Dog friendly.

Joined trail from checkpoint #1 at Broomhead parking lot. Trail was lovely to hike as deciduous trees are starting to fill in the forest canopy. Some trees down across SW and S trails. Two segments also had some flooding. Wear tick repellent: picked up two on eastern trails.

Lots of an ORV or mountain bike trail then hiking

First mile or so through what appears to be diseased forest. Some sandy trails. Lake views are beautiful. Some of the trail segments along lake shores are underwater. The AllTrails app’s trail trace omits the segment from waypoints 8 to 9 to 10, instead mapping from 8 to 10. The way the trail is mapped produces a distance of around 6.6 miles. If you want the published 8.4 you need to include checkpoint 9.

Beautiful hike, we did the extra loop with 9&10 and ended up almost walking nine miles. Very hilly, just keep that in mind. There is a shire to shore horse trail that crosses over a lot, just make sure you read the signs well! Around muncie lake was a little flooded, but easy to walk around in the trees.

Love this hike. They are putting in a lot of accessibility improvements as well, it looks like there may be wheelchair access coming to the trail that goes along Long Lake.

Beautiful hike out along Boardman River and hike back through the pines. Some mud when walking through forested region but passable,

As Mary says, the All Trails route does not include the loop with markers 9 and 10. This section is not to be missed, as it goes by a pretty section of the Boardman River with a canoe takeout. See my recording from May 4th, 2020 for the complete trail. Also, after marker 8 stay right where the North Country Trail splits off to the left.

Great walk tonight. Husband and I are in our 60s and enjoyed the trails which were well marked.

Nice place to walk your dog(s). Very peaceful.

We started at 15, and did it backwards. It seemed most up hill( we love that) & a portion was flooded but we were able to jump the creek about 20 feet from flooded pathway. We passed about 7 people. Nicely marked easy to follow.

We saw a lot of frog activity, and sat on a nice rock by the river!

Trail is in great condition as always. Lots of people out this weekend on foot and with dogs making biking trickier

A nice trail to hike when you have limited time. The peaceful area is a nice hike to clear your mind and just take in nature’s beauty.

Great trail. Nicely marked and easy to follow. One part was slightly flooded but we were able to find a way around. I’d recommend having a vehicle with a high clearance to navigate the road to the trailhead. It’s a dirt road with plenty of bumps and uneven surfaces. Also, don’t go to the trailhead as marked by AllTrail. It’s just a road intersection. Instead, park at the campground & pick up the trail there. Overall, good variety in terrain and lightly trafficked.

Nice trail with about half the loop in the low lands near the creek amidst the cedars, and the other half is on higher ground. Creek area has boards over a lot of the muddy trail sections, but many of the boards are sunk in to the point of being useless. That said, its still spring and I expect it will dry out a little bit as summer hits.
