Beautiful trail through a forest. Able to see many different wildlife: deer, rabbits, cardinals, bluejays, and butterflies everywhere.

Hilly and a great walk. Mt Bikers and hikers both on the trails

Super fun bike trail! I did this on a rather warm day in the end of June, but there was plenty of shade along the trail to keep it cool. The trail itself is dirt/packed stone and a very easy ride. It rained heavily the day prior, but the trail was perfectly fine with only a few little muddy bits.

Great trail if you want to get a quick and easy 20 miles in.

One of the best rail trails to hike or bike in Michigan. Very scenic with tunnels of trees, a cider mill, and the Paint Creek along the way. Easiest to start in Rochester and go to Lake Orion and then come back - due to the elevation.

Excellent ride with many ways to access the creek throughout the route! Great for dogs!

rode this trail last summer from lake orion to Rochester. nice ride, moderate traffic at the time, only a few inconsiderate people. the trail follows the creek so it is an incline from Rochester to lake orion. trail ends connects to the Clinton river trail and leads through downtown Rochester. lunch at Rochester mills brewery was a nice break.

A bit boring for what I'm looking for, but well kept and links to other trail systems.

One of my favorites. Starting in downtown Rochester and riding out to Lake Orion, you'll get a nice scenic ride with plenty of shade and beautiful views of the river and woods. We always see deer and other wildlife when riding on the path. There is a service station at the cider mill if you get a flat and it's a great place for a pit stop for snacks and an indoor bathroom. Perfect fall ride with lunch or dinner in down town Rochester.

I saw 10 deer in various locations. One even crossed the trail just feet in front of me. The 20 mile ride was worth it for that alone!

Its a nice trail for walking, not really hiking.there are parts that you can hike a bit off the beaten path but have to watch out because it does cut through peoples back yards.. Its a very nice trail though I walk it a lot..

This is a Rails-to-Trails trail, so it's flat and very easy. It's a nice trail if you live nearby and want to do some easy workout/hikes during the week or a family bike ride on the weekend. The trail can be crowded and parts of it essentially goes through people's backyard. There are various parking spots along the trail, so if you don't feel like doing the entire 8 miles, you can always do part of it. I find this trail very boring, but I can see this as a good trail for children, older people, or joggers.

I did my long runs on PC starting in Rochester to Lake Orion and back - 18 miles round trip. Great for running - all dirt. The only things missing are some hills. Add them by doing some repeats up and back at the Dutton Road crossing a few miles west of Rochester. Dutton Hill will wake you up.

The paint creek trail is a wonderful running, biking trail that is well maintained. It can get quite busy during the week after working hours or on weekends. Also the crossroads require you to stop and at times can be traffic laden. The fine gravel is good for a cross bike but not okay for a road bike.
