I just got done hiking this trail and I loved it! There were sections where the bugs weren’t as bad and others where you just had to keep moving to keep them off you. I highly suggest staying at a reserved camp site, we did and it made the end of the day a lot easier. As we passed some we noticed a few of the early on camp sites had fire wood supplied for them. Make sure you bring a couple water bottles because a few of the beach access points were closed so there was a good stretch without a place to refill or filter water. With all of this, it was a beautiful trail with breathtaking views. Overall a great experience and I plan on doing this one again.

This trail is highly trafficked and the falls are quite beautiful. I can see why people enjoy it. The path is wide and easy for all types of hikers. But given the amount of people, we enjoyed Tannery falls way better.

Simple walk from parking lot. Fairly quiet at 7pm. Peaceful.

Biked this trail on a Monday morning. Never saw another person on the island. The trail is very difficult. Had to push the bikes in a couple of places. Very muddy and the trail was almost washed out in a few spots. Views are stunning especially on the north side of the island. However it is difficult to stop and look because the mosquitoes are so bad. We had long pants, long sleeves and used 2 bottles of deet and still were chewed up. Make sure you take lots of water. There's none available on the island. It took us about 4 hours to bike the 21 miles. Overall it was a great experience.

Trail lives up to the difficult rating. Like all the other comments bug spray, bug spray, and more bug spray. Mosquitoes were on me from beginning to end. I’m glad I bought a head net at the dock before. Best $5 I spent in long time.

The trail to the viewing center was really nice and the waterfall is gorgeous. You can go up to the fall but DO NOT go near the falls (one person did and almost got hurt)!

Super short walk up to a pretty waterfall. It's basically all paved, with wooden bridges and stairs.

I would give 4.5 stars if available. Overall, a great experience and I will return. Stunning views and cliffs all along the north side. Some musts: Bug spray- the mosquitos are no joke (most would recommend a net as well as long pants) Reserve camp spots ahead of time- I went into the weekend thinking I would random camp like I always do in the national forest. Wrong. Fact of the matter is if you’re following the rules, there is not a lot of random site opportunity. Not much flat/open land. Sites are very nice and well worth the 8$. I was nice and let people camp with me at my reserved spot but I wouldn’t expect that treatment from everybody. The “first come first sites” are not accessible by trail. I got lost trying to find them.

Generally good trail. Certainly enjoyable.o

The two track trail opens up to unveil views just beyond. Long expanses of lake dotted with land. Waves of rock curving into the lake. A dip into Lake superior is as energizing as a cup of coffee. The creeks that trickle through the rocks hold small trout. Do bring long sleeves and a mosquito net.

This was by far the hardest hiking/biking trip I've ever done. Some musts, if you haven't biked for a long time do yourself a favor get back into it, you backside will thank you. The bugs are always bad, bring bug spray and be prepared that spray doesn't always work, a netted hat helps. I recommend going counterclockwise, the hills will be more in your favor. Hydrate before you go and bring a water filter. When they say there's no water they mean it. However, there's several locations with decent streams. Trails were not bad, some mud and rocks, but passable. Plan ahead and good luck.

Nice little 1.2 out and back trail. Great waterfall at the end. Lots of steps at the bottom overlooking the Falls.
