I love it!

Not well marked. But fun walk

This place it awesome for hiking and taking landscape photography.

Fantastic views from the top!! Fall color are at their peak.

We took the difficult trail and it was not bad at all. Lots of rocks and tree roots, so it requires paying attention, but is not overly challenging. We went on a Saturday around noon and the trail was packed. The weather was chilly, but worth it when you reach the top and see the colors. We were a little early, so the colors weren't in full swing yet, but still a very beautiful hike. I would absolutely do it again.

Took a hike up the ‘difficult’ trail to the top of Sugarloaf mountain - what a beautiful view!!! The difficult trail is not very difficult even for a novice hiker like myself - there are just some uneven areas that are entirely manageable with proper footwear (tennis shoes, lol) Took about 15-20 minutes up at a leisurely pace. I definitely recommend!

Beautiful views!! The main loop has a paved path which is very easy to walk. However, if you venture off of the path onto the side trails/rock formations the hike is more moderate. My favorite parts of the hike were walking on the rock formations and watching the cliff jumpers.

Awesome views! Room to improvise down by shorelines. Cliff diving too.

Great views - I recommend the “difficult trail” as it’s faster to get up, and found the stairs on the “easy trail” were way too time consuming. However, the easy trail was easy enough for people to get up in dresses, sandals, flip flops, or jeans...

Took the easy route and thought it was harder with all the stairs. Awesome views from the top, definitely worth the hour to complete the loop.

Nice area. Most of the trail was paved but I would suggest walking by the cliffs on the back side of the island (unpaved). Also a place you can jump into Lake Superior. Great views and easy trail.

Outstanding views!

Amazing views from the summit

Easy walk along a path. Definitely easier walking it counter clock wise

Really popular hike, and it was mostly stairs. The views from the top were amazing though!

Beautiful views. Not well marked in places.

Sugarloaf is an incredible hike with a 470 feet high view at the top. Not sure why people keep downgrading its rating on here because it's too easy? If you're looking for a longer hike, the trail connects to Wetmore Landing and then to Little Presque Isle. You can also connect Sugarloaf to Hogback Mountain which is has an even more impressive view (600 feet high). Combine all these and you have yourself a challenging hike with three of the most beautiful spots in all of Michigan.

Really enjoyed this hike/climb. Kids loved “mountain climbing” (playing on the boulders) and the views at the end of the trail were worth every step!

Short hike, we did it twice- easy side has steps and the hard side has some rocks in the trail but overall not difficult if you are active. Should be doable for just about anyone and it is a nice view of the lake. Do it for the views and less for a ‘hike.’

Great short trail with a great view of Lake Superior.

Very nice short hike. Stairs to the viewing decks and a couple of small rocky sections. People were doing it in Sandals so tennis shoes or anything works! Brought the pup and he enjoyed the walk as well!

Great hike, lot of stairs! The views are worth it. Take water, seeing too many people hiking without water.

You can go beyond the platforms at the top ro get different views and be more secluded from your fellow hikers. Watch your step!

Lovely hike. Worth it. There are two options easy and hard. The hard is not bad at all.

Great view of the shoreline and variety of landforms

Short and sweet hike, fun to climb around. It was foggy so not as great of views as it could have been.

Great easy hike, if you're a bit experienced. Too easy for me these days, but the view is nice.

Nice short hike. Remenber your yak tracks in the winter. Trail and stairs will be slippery and icy. The view is great!!

Decent scenery

The main loop is very easy as it is a road, but it is fun once you venture off into the side trails. I enjoy walking along the cliff trail which is more difficult, but well worth it to see the lake. Only downside is how crowded some spots can be during the summer.
