So many animal encounters in this nature trail

First ride! Very fun and challenging for a newbie!

Very technical and fun for all levels of riding. Trail can be a bit confusing at times but it's always well maintained.

Great 4.5 mile route around a beautiful part of Grand Rapids. It is around a lake but not right on lake. Follow maps people have made, as you have to run through some residential neighborhoods. Neat little downtown area right by high school.

Easy, peaceful walk. The pups love it.

The trail are slightly confusing but I really enjoyed my hike! I will be back for the bike trails!

Nice park for an easy hike/walk. Lots of different trail options for various length hikes.

I really like Heritage park. Trails are well maintained and there is a decent amount of wildlife to be seen including deer. There is a very nice nature center that has activities and what not for the family.

I live down the street from the park and it's my go to when I want to get a quick fix.

Trail overall is well maintained. However, there are several low spots that like to stay wet/muddy even a few days after raining. There can be a lot of standing water in the summer so keep the bug spray handy.

Biggest drawback is the proximity to the main roads so you will often hear a lot of traffic noise. But, with a good enough breeze it will drown out most of it.

Liked the trail and wildlife. Saw 2 deer, 2 black squirrels and more. But very close to highway and when I went after work it was very noisy.

Beautiful day for a hike from the Nature Center. Veered off the Fox Trail onto the horse trails but still enjoyed our time out in the forest.

This trail has a very nice view of the river, the map wasnt great. Overall all really nice. I would go again but bring bug spray.

It’s a nice escape from the city.

Nice trail for running. It’s a great workout, especially the Hall Street hill.

The Good:
- Wide main trail (stay to the right when it splits)
- Wildlife: Saw 7 deer as I ran the trail at 8am

The Bad:
- Trails are not marked at all
- All of the single track small trails are not maintained
- There are a few bridges that are no longer functional and from what I could tell, lead to nowhere
- You’ll see graffiti, especially as you get closer to Wayne Rd.
- You’ll see garbage all over. A lot of blunt wrappers. Garbage increases closer to Wayne Rd.
- Saw what looks like the base of an old house in the woods
- Ran across what looked like a campsite or party area in the woods
- Parking is right on the road, but as I prepared to run, a (appeared to be) homeless person walked by eyeing me up.

Summary: I’d say it’s worth checking out once. The old bridges are fun to climb on and check out. I’d be a little leery of going back here by myself during the day or evening. This was probably once a really nice park and you will enjoy the 1 mile of trail before things get weird.

A very quiet forest feel hike. Not heavily trafficked. It has easy groomed trails. Features a nice lake you can sit and watch the wildlife at. Beautiful fall foliage. Downside is no pets.

Great trails and beautiful scenery

Great views of the lake

Great little path, especially with kids. Good day hike. Mosquitos not bad, pet friendly.

It was a good trail. Easy thing moderate.

Beautiful trail system! Make sure you download the map - there are no trail markings!

really nice variety of terrain: gravel, dirt, wood chips, pavement. even after the torrential rains the day before, not too muddy. and even though it was really humid, not super buggy. some steep climbs and declines which made for a nice moderate challenge. beautiful meadow views. and if you take the scout trail, halfway in there's a side trail that leads to a great mini waterfall, great for pictures.

Beautiful trail through a forest. Able to see many different wildlife: deer, rabbits, cardinals, bluejays, and butterflies everywhere.

It is very nice trail for

Great place to walk/run. Love the middle loop that connects to other loops to provide longer mileage.

Very nice scenic ride. It is somewhat hilly, but not to bad.

Love this trail. Nice balance of nature and neighborhoods. Not too crowded although if you happen upon it while the high school cross country team is practicing, all bets are off. Will be back for sure

Pros-
appeared to be a great mountain bike trail with several different paths (I was there as a new GR resident looking to walk my dog). Beautiful surroundings. Not busy. Maps of trails in a few locations were good.
Cons-
Def not what I was looking for to walk/hike w my dog. Several very narrow paths and hidden curves where it would be quite difficult to avoid a hiker/biker collision. Lots of forks in the road w no color-coded signage. Both my dog and I inadvertently stirred up a yellow jacket nest on the ground and got stung.
Parting thoughts-
I would highly recommend as a mountain bike trail but def not as a casual hiking location for someone unfamiliar w the area/trails.
