Nice trail, loses points for the nearby shooting range and not the best for hiking with all the mountain bike traffic

Trail was dry. There are some bikers. It was raining while we were there but the tree coverage provided us with a shield

Relaxed, woodsy trail with enough turns, small hills, rocks and roots to keep it interesting. Couple of small creeks and ponds as an added bonus. Gnats and mosquitoes were minimal in late afternoon. Gun range nearby made my young dog a bit nervous during the first 15 mins or so but was far enough away where he got used to it and ultimately ignored it completely. Would recommend it if looking for a nice hour or so walk. FYI - there were no garbage cans or toilets along the path. There was also no litter on the trail anywhere - thumbs up to the regulars!!

The shooting range needs to be moved. The trails are awesome but it sounds like you're running through a warzone.

By far my favorite trail. This map only shows the top loop, but we hiked the entire outside ring on a cool saturday morning. It was about 6 miles. If you enter at Baldwin road, you can exit the park and head onto the sidewalk at Clarkston road. This will take you to the dog park, where you can sit and have a snack and watch dogs. You can get back onto the trails from inside the dog park. Great trail on a cool day.

Nice hike - no bugs - little elevation change- seems to stay up on ridgelines

Loved this trail only took it from lake Orion to the Village of Leonard. But it was beautiful and well maintained with many areas to stop and rest and have a picnic. Also they have fix it centers along the way to fix your bike if need be.

Not very peaceful when there is a shooting range next to trail.

Trail is very rough with roots and rocks. Definitely not a good fit for towing our burley. Great otherwise.

Nice wide trail. Definitely boggy in a lot of spots so be prepared for mud. Buggy too. Still enjoyed the hike and had a lot of variety to make different length hikes.

Very easy trail, somewhat confusing trial lines that backtrack to extend the overall length. had to stop an multiple markers to determine which was I was supposed to head. was very muddy today, 6/14.

This was a great trail, well maintained, a little muddy with all the rain we have had but that’s to be expected. Nice and easy, it was perfect for taking my older dog and puppy out for a long walk after dinner. Both of them loved it.

I've been hiking most of the trail from lake Orion. Most of the trail was in good condition. There was a lot of mud this spring. The northern part of the trail is over grown. I found 2 ticks on myself and 5 on my dog

Bad time to hike this, got eaten alive by bugs, and treaded through mud every other turn.

Don't follow the directions to get here. use a different parking area.

This trail is well marked and scenic. It has a large variety of various woodland habitat. The Trilliums are I’m full bloom on this trail system along with the North unit as well.

I ran this trail in the second week of May and there had been a fair amount of rain, so it was very muddy, but as a trail runner I embraced it. It is surrounded by swamp so I imagine as it warms up the bugs will be an issue.

Trail was very well marked and a great walk. The only downside was, it was next to a shooting range that you could hear the entire time.

Great hilly, moderate trail for families with older kids. Dog friendly. Good spot to see vernal ponds, amphibians and lots of garter snakes.

Great hike with hills, valleys, and water. Trails are still a little wet and muddy but that’s normal for this time of year. I will be back on the late spring/summer for sure.
