This is a great trail for those just getting into trail running. Quick loop with relatively level terrain. I did a few loops around to get my miles in. It was very peaceful for being right in the heart of Kalamazoo!

This is my absolute favorite trail in our area! Don't hesitate to use the off-shoot trails for a more challenging run and to see the beautiful woods and creatures! With the leaves above, it's cooler on hot days and even keeps you a bit dry during some rain storms.

Amazing trail !! Best part was the bridges and a roster on my way !!
I doing again !!

Great for biking, hiking, and just enjoying the sounds and sights of nature. This trail is used by many and therefore becomes a ”safe” trail to use. Much is a hard pack surface but it does turn to gravel as you travel west. There are few places along the route for restroom breaks and there are no shelters. Come prepared.

Follow the lookout trail to the land bridge to cross over to the North hiking trails. No bikes allowed. Well marked trails with colored arrows but parts were pretty overgrown.

I really liked this trail! Lots of wildlife and black raspberries bushes along the North side of the lake.

If you actually want to do the loop around the lake, stick with the smaller trail that hugs the shoreline. Parts of it are a little overgrown and the last bit before you hit the road was really muddy. You have to walk along the road for just a bit but then you can cut back in to the trails.

Pretty trails. Not super well marked, lots of off-shoots. Most of the time I wasn't actually on the official trails. The app kept me going in the right direction though!

good urban trail. No dirt trails so not a "hike" but nice and long out and back.

hike this trail a few times a week. local in Kalamazoo, paved and well maintained

Great trail mostly flat mostly sunny beautiful lake consider it unmarked. Without the app I don't believe I could have made it back to the car lol. #truth

Beautiful place for a hike! There’s the main trial around the lake and many other small trails off of that if you want to explore a bit more. Will definitely go back.

A great area in Kalamazoo to go stretch your legs and soak up nature. Visit the lake or meander through the woods. We used to live across the street and walk this daily. Our dog loved it! Off the main trail of you stick to the north side of the lake there is another small beach that not as many people stop at. Perfect for letting your dog enjoy the water.

The area along where railroad tracks were are great for mushroom hunters!

No trail markings. Muddy at times. Fairly busy.

This is a pretty legit trail. Lots of really nice people, beautiful scenery and trash cans places every so often. A ton of litter up near the Winchell Way apartments and the trails were poorly marked. Sorta hard to follow but luckily I had this app. I will probably return.

Short and sweet. Dog-log stations and bathrooms at both ends are awesome. Trash cans every so often and the scenic overlooks are worth the short walk. Well maintained and well marked.

Two friends and I did a shake-down hike here. Very beautiful but the trails were not marked very well. We got lost and had to navigate out. Trails are well-enough maintained but needs improvement with trail marking.

Cool place! Today was my first time here. The trails weren’t marked properly, making it hard to figure out where to go. I will be back, my dog and I enjoyed it ☺️

Frequently used trail. Good for biking, walking, and running.

Trekked around Asylum Lake Preserve today. The trails around the lake are tight, and most likely very wet in the spring. The cold and snow made the trip today quite enjoyable. Also, not much traffic today...but in the spring or summer this preserve is very well travelled. Lot of dog walkers. I will probably continue to make this a winter excursion.

This is a very nice moderate trail. We spent about 2 hours today wondering through most of the preserve; nearly 6 miles of documented tracks. The system is not marked very well, but half the fun is getting lost. The fresh snow made this hike awesome. The scenery was fantastic. Great place to cross country ski, snowshoe, or hike after a fresh snowfall.
