So many bikers but it is July 4th so I guess a crowd at the parks is to be expected. Be cautious as you hike, as there are a few narrow and winding sections of trail. Sorry to the guy that fell off his bike as he stopped to avoid hitting me! Most bikers were nice enough to say how many were behind them.

Impressive little wooded trail. I expected it to run alongside the road but didn't. Saw a couple deer & plenty of squirrel. The lake views are nice at sunset with plenty of beach and overlook areas, if you choose to stop. The latter part of the trail seems to be used less... but never really encountered much activity when I've been there. Pines, lakes, hardwoods, a little more fun terrain at the end. Nice loop.

Well-maintained sandy trail, narrow at times with a few hills sprinkled in! A lot of mountain bikers, who are courteous and some you can run into a few times due to the nature of the course, and a few like-minded hikers and runners. Make sure you walk against the bikers for safety reasons.

Fun hike! Woodsier than Kensington trails

A beautiful trail - fantastic autumn colors. I love most of this trail (some of it along East Grand River Rd. isn't that awesome) - one of the prettiest hiking trails in SE Michigan. There are many bikes, I think 7 passed me. All but one were very polite and gave me plenty of warning that they were approaching. A couple don't miss spots: near mile 1, take the dirt path that runs closer to the river, and, after crossing the Huron the 2nd time and turning away from Kensington Rd, take the short side path into the pine grove, great place to take a break and have a snack (both are marked on the track I uploaded). The woods are pretty and river views are wonderful.

Be careful when you get near Island Lake, the trail goes right along the edge of the lake and if its wet or icy you could slide into the water. It's shallow, but still, not a way you want to finish off your hike. When there is snow/ice I skip that section and instead walk between the paved trail and the treeline along the lake.

Nice loop featuring a pair of lakes. On the harder side of easy due to the length; the terrain is fairly flat. Sounds of civilization (shooting range, road noise) are all around. Trail maintenance was fairly good overall, but parts of the trail will need to be cleared again in the near future. Also, trail intersections are identified by letters A through I, but not all identifying signs have been erected yet. Overall, still a work in progress, but a nice loop.

A nice, easy trail in Island Lake Recreation area that is ***hiking only***! No mountain bikes. Much of it is a pleasant walk in deciduous and evergreen woods. Other than the paved section around Trout Lake, there are few other hikers. Nice trail for SE Michigan, only slightly marred by the noise from the shooting range along parts of the trail.
