Best pure hiking experience in greater Lansing area IMO. Great up-and-down terrain along banks of Grand River. Scenic in all seasons.

One of the most interesting trails in lower Michigan. There are streams, babbling Brooks, rivers, mini water falls, abandoned clay pipe manufacturing structures, cliff's, pleasant woods, big railroad trestle crossing the Grand River, Island bridges and walkways, nice terrain changes etc. I'm going back in the Spring to see wildflowers.

This review (and recording) is for Island park. Didn’t realize until today the trail goes in both directions. If you head away from the park (go right from the parking lot) there’s about a mile of trail out and back along the river. Fall colors are gorgeous right now! The island park part is also beautiful, just remember to bring food for the ducks, they expect it!

Awesome family friendly trail system. Short loop goes around the quarry and is great for kids under 10. Take the loop north first and then head around the quarry for a little bit longer of a hike. Beautiful views of the grand river this time of year if you head north on the trail. Easy, quick, and not crowded trails for a quick 1 hour hike.

This is the outdoor spot in the Grand Ledge area. Take my kids here a couple times a week to walk the trails. The trails do get a little confusing as the signage is not the best but they're all in good condition and none are that long anyways. Kid & pet friendly. Perfect spot for hikers of all ages and "skill" level with beautiful views through out.

The ledges are pretty cool to see and the playground for kids is great but the trails aren’t well marked. They’re easy to see but no way to know what trail you’re on.

Great trail. Very scenic. Dry, clean, flat.

I started at the parking lot for the island park, walked the Ledges then walked through the park. The erosion is insane. Makes for really good pics of tree roots if that’s your thing, but I can’t imagine how many more years this trail will exist! Nice hike that features a river and rock formations, just watch your footing!

Simple beauty!

If you do all the loops you can get in almost 4 miles. I likes this side of the river because it's a little more trickery footing wise. A lot of up an down. The only thing that left me dissapointed was that the bridge was out so I couldn't do a section. GL parks are great it's $3.

Nice shaded trail with great river views

This trail is about a mile longer than the other Deer run & Tallman @ the brick park. I enjoyed the first hike so much, I came back for the second trail. The river banks are very fishable.

Beautifully gorgeous hiking/fishing/swimming/kayaking trail. Probably the best park in Eaton county. Hot day? No worries, it’s shaded, take a dip in the quarry if you need. I saw many people on the trail, but it wasn’t overcrowded by any measure.. $3 Entrance fee for Eaton county residents.

Lots of silkworm and a little muddy at the moment. Otherwise I definitely got my workout in.

really nice park, but way more silk worms than we wanted to deal with.

Fun, easy, some of the side trails were slippery, but a cool hike.

Many paths to choose from. This was my first time here and the trails had quite a bit of hard snow and ice. Even in the winter there are some great vantage points of the streams throughout the wooded areas. The ledges were pretty covered in snow so I didn’t get to see all of their glory but I’ll be back when it warms up.

Loved hiking here! Super pretty views, different level of difficulty with different trails, unlike anything in mid Michigan!

Short hike and the rock formations were pretty cool. Also it’s close to the lake which is nice.

One of the best trails in lower Michigan. Lots of beautiful stone to view as well as a train bridge. The train went through when I was right under the tracks. You can walk across the train bridge. It’s a short easy hike, but there are other paths you can take and some areas for rock climbing, too, which makes for more of a challenge. The only bad thing is that part of the path takes you along an area of private residences and their sewers are right on the path. The smell is bad. But otherwise it’s a good trail.

Beautiful trail, these ledges are from the same glacier as Pictured Rocks and are so amazing to view.
