Seven Ponds Nature Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which - unlike state parks, county parks, metroparks, etc - receives zero funding from tax-payer dollars. The $3 admission fee for non-member adults (children are free) or the annual membership fee of $30 (individual) or $40 (family) provides a significant portion of the nature center's operating budget. This allows the small staff to maintain nearly seven miles of trails on almost 500 acres (including boardwalks, bridges, and platforms), manage invasive species, provide a nature sanctuary for native plants and animals, provide dozens of high quality programs for children, adults, and families each year, and service nearly 10,000 area school children annually with environmental education aligned to school curriculum and state/national standards. The nature center and trails are open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the trails are open to members dawn to dusk, 365 days a year.
