Take your newbie hiker here only if you want them to never go out with you again. If the initial 1,000+ foot in about 1 mile climb isn't enough to scare them, the scramble up the fairly sheer cliff face towards the end of the 7 mile loop should do it. That being said, for those who enjoy a good glute workout and killer scenery, Tekoa is an A++.

There are a few blow downs along the trail. One of them blocks the trail for about 30 yards. But other than that it is a great low traffic trail.

Expect a serious climb at the beginning of this trail including several stretches of scrambling up rock faces. The views are worth it but even once you get to the overlook there is little flat ground on the entire hike and you'll face scrambling down the same rocks as you finish out the loop. The walk out to the reservoir and back is a nice change of pace and the scenery is worth it, If you take this trail in late spring or early summer you'll see plenty of mountain laurel in bloom.
