Great property, wish I lived closer. Decided to "peakbag" as many of the hills as possible. Started clockwise across the North Reservoir dam to Bear Hill (climbed the lookout tower) then over to Winthrop before witnessing a wonderful engagement proposal on the ledge near Wanapanaquin Hill. That was really sweet, took some pix for them as the lighting was perfect! Turned south from there to Gerry Hill then across the dog play area to a series of no-name hills before returning to car. A bit of bushwacking on this trek but it was easy. Lovely all around!

Went here with a 9 and 3 year old hoping for an easy path- there were too many places that the 3 year could not handle. Great trail, had to stop 1/4 of the way and turn back bc kids got tired.

Will definitely come back, sans kids.

Very easy trail if you hike like we do.

Many of the paths are overgrown with thorns!!

Many of the paths are poorly marked and could be quite confusing if you don’t pay attention.

Gorgeous! Highly recommend.

Would have probably been more fun going clockwise, but great trails. Easy to feel lost in nature right outside a city.

Well marked trails. Not really hiking yet not really a simple flat walk. I would say it’s on the high end of easy to the very low end of moderate. It was very nice but I have similar walks closer to my home so I personally wouldn’t go out of my way to go again.

This is a great trail for running as it varies in difficulty as you go. There are some flat, easy spots but there are also some areas with rocks and roots that you have to dodge as you run up and downhill. Highly recommended!

well marked, great for running & mountain biking.

A nice stroll in a little wood. Nothing amazing but easy to reach from boston. Which trail you take doesn't matter much, and it's easy to "get lost" here

good little walk through the woods, but nothing too exciting. for mountain folk like us it was a bit mundane. No real hills or anything fun to climb. very easy

Many different trails. Followed skyline trail. Plenty of climbs. Good workout. Definitely recommend to bring good trail shoes or hiking boots, water. Trails are well marked.

pretty nice hike, paths aren't fully marked and lots of unleashed dogs.

Pretty easy, the tower on Bear Hill has great views of Boston, the Blue Hills, the Fells, and even the Monadnock Region on a clear day.

Not too hard, great views from the tower on Bear Hill, conveniently located too.

I want to hit this trail for a winter hike. Would I be ok with just spikes? Or are snowshoes needed?

Really nice hike and running trail, I’m a newbie and it was doable.

Decent walk around the reservoir. It was a bit more challenging than I expected it to be. The trails were a bit hard to find at times but course correction wasn't difficult to get back on track. Parking is limited so get there early.

Great Trail, every kind of terrain, lot of views

Great trail! Wish the signage was easier to read

Great easy hike, so green, so many cute dogs!

Nice views of reservoirs but way too crowded. Parking lot mobbed. Could have a long wait. Granted it was a nice Sunday in the summer. Would only come back on a weekday

great hiking! All levels. skyline trail is the best

trail running

Did a trail run on the reservoir loop. Had a really good time. it's a decent distance, technical enough to keep you entertained and the terrain is not too uneven that it gets uncomfortable running. The trail was well marked with orange paint and I had no trouble staying on track. I will definitely do it again.

Beautiful area to hike, run, bike, and play. Just be careful if you're on a time crunch- the Skyline trail tends to start and stop quite often and you can easily get off track. I wound up going in circles for about an hour and had a flight to catch! Another tip: arrive early. By 11:15 there were people lined up looking for a place to park.

Solid biking for Eastern MA. some really technical and tight single track but mainly large open fire roads. There is an old paved soapbox derby track that is fun to fly down.

Really only gets busy on weekends. Slightly heavier traffic after work hours.

Please don't ride in spring. The soft earth can't take the punishment.

Nice trail, but runs close to roads and industrial buildings on some sections

Easy quick walk for a lazy afternoon

Monday, October 24, 2016

We locked our bikes up near Gate 12, and started the hike from the south. Some parts of the trail are well marked with orange/red markers, other parts were a little harder to follow. The trail had some moderate parts that had some inclines and rocks, but it was overall easy-moderate. Surprisingly, the trail doesn't hug super close to the reservoirs, so you don't have water views most of the time. It was very nice though; it took us 2.75 hours at a regular pace.

A pleasant hike/walk. Well paved trail. We walked during most of the trail. There are frequent ups and downs. An easy hike. Pack a book, you'll find plenty of scenic sports to stop, picnic, relax and read a book.
