The few steep sand dunes are a little bit of a challenge but getting to the ocean made it worth it. I never could find the other end of the loop so we returned along the same path. There are only three places for cars at the trail head, but we walked from our lodging on the bay side.

Fun and unique area to hike with spectacular views and hardly any people (at least during off-season). if the sand is not too hot, trek barefoot down. beach was secluded except for some passing seals.

Definitely not for a beginner. Beautiful views but some short steep hills. Watch for sand and leaves on the paved path. A bit like a rollercoaster ride for a bike!

Glorious. I’m a local and I can’t believe I had not been on foot out here. It’s is arguably the most spectacular spot on Cape Cod. Wild and gorgeous. May be the only place in the Northeast with this spectacular scenery. It’s al all sand dune (barefoot or not) hike, and a great workout. Hills and craters and a stunning beach at the end. No swimming due to sharks, unfortunately.

I am at the race point beach early and decided to do a moderate hike. The officer at toll gate suggested me to take this trail. Although it's a bike trail, there was plenty of space to walk. I took detours to cape cod seashore visitor center and beech trail. The beech trail is a must go. I have never touched a lotus flower before. There were literally thousands of them on the trail. Simply beautiful and would definitely do it again.

Challenging up and down sand dune trails, is hot & arduous, bring water, wear hat & sunglasses & sun protection, ends at deserted pristine beach but do not swim alone (currents, seals, sharks, drownings have occurred), in general a great hike of sand dune ecology

Glorious!!!!! Amazing sand dunes, and if you’re lucky, you’ll even see a few seals!!! I recommend doing this trail in the early morning, it’s so peaceful.

Good views from the monument, you can see much of the Cape, and even the Massachusetts mainland on a clear day.

We love it!

Great way to spend the morning

Great trail! Just be prepared because walking steep sandy inclines is difficult. Bring water and pace yourself for the steep parts. Absolutely worth it though! I went in late January so I only came across a handful of people. Very peaceful and beautiful!

The sand dunes provide a fascinating and unique ecosystem. Very cool! You could easily imagine yourself on another planet.

Parking could be a bit of trouble in the busy summer months since the highway has no parking signs and only 3 spaces are designated for this trail. The beach may be quieter than other Cape Cod options since the only way to access it is by hiking in from Route 6.

The trails at the shores were ok. Well kept and there many places to rent bikes. Our family also visited all the National Seashore beaches and visited a two light houses. I think it was more tailored to tourists than a place to get away. Driving to many places on the seashore we noticed a lot of businesses kind of run down? The reason I think no more than three stars is I was looking deeper into the enviroment. I noticed the destruction of many decades of deforesting that caused huge sand dunes caused by man. Bottom line over rated. Sorry, but this was what my daughter and I had viewed. In no means I believe this is a bad place. I think everyone should get over there and enjoy the outdoors.

I love the bike trails! You can rent bikes cheap in town and bike away to all the trails and stop at the beautiful beaches. The trail is somewhat easy considering I'm not a biker and I just do it for fun. There are areas of shade and make sure you bring a bottle of water! It's worth it! I def recommend this trail! You can also stop at the tourist info center in the middle of the trail to use the bathroom if that's the case!

Climbing the 252 foot monument is a definite leg burner but you will forget all that when you get to the top and take in 360 degree views. If you want to save 30 feet of vertical, instead of using the downtown parking lot, come on up to the pay parking at the base of the monument. The monument sits on a hill so even the base offers some views.
