On a sunny day this loop around the reservoir is unmatched. You follow a gravel road, so it’s tick free and easy walking. Moderate use in the summer not much in the winter. It’s gentle up-and-down. I wish there were more trails like it. One of my very favorites. in terrain, beauty and length.

1.17.19. A really fine, easy hike with a little bit of everything: forest, streams and open landscapes. Starting from the parking lot, we followed the blue acorn blazes counter-clockwise on the splendidly maintained trail (it was still obvious even at the higher elevations when covered in 2 or 3 inches of snow). The first half saw a bit of mild climbing. Beautiful open areas at the beginning and towards the end of the outing. If you haven't tried it and are are wondering, here are my stats as a guide:

Distance: 4.3 miles
Elevation gain: 577 feet
Moving time: 1:37:51

Beautiful water views. Perfect walking area for a dog.

Awesome 5+ mile loop! I have done Weir Hill countless times and recently tried Osgood Hill so today I put them together for my Philmont Prep Hike carrying 34 lbs. Pay attention when you leave the Weir Hill trail to Osgood Hill trail. There are no trail markings. Just follow the beaten down path along the lake until you pick up the trail markers at least 1/2 mile later. There are trail improvements so you know you are in a designated trail but no markers for a while. Decent elevation plus I love the 2 chair pasture setting that overlooks Lake Cochichewick.

This was a good short hike. Markings are clear along the trail, however, some of them can be pretty fairly spaced apart so just be aware - I went off trail a couple of times but didn’t get turned around too bad.

Nice quick hike with beautiful views of the valley.

Really great trail. I have run a lot of trails in the area and this is one of the better ones. Combined this with Betsys Neck for a great long run.

Nice trek, even in winter. Some ice but plenty of rocks and roots to keep traction. The Pine Hill Trail up was great and is a work of art!! Wish I had some skis for the way down.

Great views. Short steep ascent, but would rate this more intermediate than hard.

Great hike with some nice views of the various lakes, ponds and forests in Massasoit.

Not much elevation change, but plenty of trails to get a great workout in.

Keep an eye out for the mountain bikers, as there were quite a few out on the trail while I was there.

Both roads to this trail are either closed or not maintained in the winter(Dec-May). Beware. I plan to go back in the spring time when the road looks better.

Plenty of secondary trails to keep it interesting time after time.

Good hiking or biking area, connected large and small loops.

The trail and surrounding woods was free of brush. Very enjoyable walk, fantastic older trees and rolling hills Highly recommended. As others have noted bring your GPS as the trail at times isn’t well marked

amazing scenic view when you make it to the top

Nice range of inclines. Roller coaster hills make it “uphill both ways”. You can make this trail a really rigorous hike or at a slow pace still gives a good legs (and heart) workout. Nice range of pine and deciduous, and vistas. Now if they could just relocate Logan airport (flight noise) and Rte 128 it would be perfect.

Nice loop, can get muddy sometimes

absolutely loved this place.

Well, five stars because I can walk to this trail from my house. However it is also a nice mix of forest lake and field, and none of the terrain is difficult. There are also a few access points to this loop

Beautiful even during winter!

Use it for training for summit ridge hiking. Too many dogs and cyclists, though.
