It was such a treat to explore the rest of the Middlesex Fells Reservation trails. Completed the Skyline Trail Loop, let me tell you it was absolutely impressive to see such a variety of trails for everyone. If you like mtb, laid back walk, or looking for challenging run this place has it all. Hope you enjoy it as well!

This trail gets 5 stars because it’s fun and I was blown away that it’s in Medford. You don’t feel like you’re that close to the city when you’re on the trail. There’s lots of scrambling up and over rocks (and there are lots of them, thus the name), plus some great above the treeline views, especially at Pinnacle Rock where you can see the Encore Casino glittering in the distance. This is a good spot to stop for a snack. But I agree with a lot of reviewers—this trail is for more advanced hikers in good shape, and it absolutely takes more like 3.5 hours, especially if you dip down to see the Cascades (don’t bother if there’s no water).

Very close to Boston and right off l-93. Good intermediate trail with a lot of scrambling up and down to really get your heart going. Lots of bike paths and other trails criss cross the fells and allow you to make your own way back.

Only ~15 min from Boston. Really nice hike and nice mix of up, down hill with rocky sections here and there.

Great hike! Trail is pretty well marked - follow the white markings. Good mix of inclines and declines and the terrain is a also a good mix with gravel, dirt and large rocks. Makes for a moderate climb with some cool views.

perfect and serene! I usually walk as close to the water as I can and instead of staying on the main path at the top i continue go along the water line!

I just want to make it clear that this trail is NOT moderate. It took us at least 4 hrs to get back to where we parked and at one point I was freaking out. The map that the app provides does come in handy but it is anxiety provoking when you lose track. It is buggy and I didn’t see any body of bodies or water along this particular trail. If you’re a hiker you may have a different experience but sure know that I’ll never do it again.

The route shown here goes through private property so I had to reroute. There were some sections that were not well marked, and I had to refer to my phone a lot, but overall was fairly easy to follow. The view of the reservoir is gorgeous!

Great hike overall. I improvised a bit, but still ended up at 8.4 miles. Some moderate spots, but nothing too challenging. A few bugs, but not too bad overall.

Great moderate trail with a lot of ups and downs. Great view of Boston from Pinnacle Rock. Better off parking at the skating rink because the trailhead is directly across from there.

My wife and I really enjoyed this hike. There were a few muddy spots along the way but the majority of the trail was perfectly fine. There is scrambling required at points. Views are worth it!

This is a great 8 ish mike easy trail. Pretty well marked. Great for dogs. Main trails heavily trafficked closer to trailheads. Great for biking main trails or running.

Great hike! This has been our favorite trail in Middlesex Fells so far. We had a great time climbing over rocks and enjoying all the lookout points. Our dog was pretty comfortable with the trail as well.
