Love this hike! Follow these directions closely. Came in off Route 5 entrance of park. off Interstate 91 to 98 Clark street(address for gps) entrance/ parking. It takes you into the M/M (white marked) trail which is really steep for "base camp" but you must power through it. The trail for the first 1/4mile is not marked as well as one would like but it gets easier and better marked throughout. Visualize heading towards the right and towards the right side of a mountain view. The hike quickly starts to payoff with views almost immediately . As you work your way up you start to have a mountainside hike that is safe but slightly thrilling if a little scared of heights. You will come across a few landmarks such as a windmill and a couple towers. The trail becomes mostly mountain side and more challenging but not actual climbing but 2 or 3 ft incline rock lunges . Nothing any average /novice can not do. At that point it's more stamina than strenuous. Finally you get to the top of the summit with the main tower and the end of a paved service road .Cool view with a few places to look out . Just an old railing or 2 on old concrete but it's a mountain hike not a resort lol. Some graffiti on tower / rocks but hey its not patrolled heavy. ***** IMPORTANT*****. IF you descend down aforementioned paved service road from the summit/ tower you will come across b17 crash from 1946 Memorial. It was pristine and immaculate. For all the complaints about graffiti on the towers people do have a conscious and refrain from vandalizing the Memorial and I was overjoyed to see that! Kudos visitors and Western Mass and Connecticut folks! If you are still reading this a bit of comedy and please learn from my mistake. After the B17 memorial a friend of mine followed the service road down and realized we were on the opposite side of the mountain and it truly was an EPIC FAIL. DEFINITELY GO BACK THE WAY YOU CAME FROM AND BACK DOWN THE WHITE TRAIL to your parking. Buddy and I had to go down and left to rock quarry trail and across the reserve back to parking. what was a 2 hour trip turned into 3 due to our mistake. Finally we were locked in the park due to our tardiness and had to have the kind Folks at the Mass State troopers let us out. A true adventure. Cant wait to go again lol. Time your trip accordingly as of May 20 the park closes at 6pm but I believe it is 8pm in summer. You can park outside the gate but it's a longer walk. Be healthy my friends ! Hope this helps.

This was a fun hike! It is extremely steep at the beginning, as almost all of the elevation takes place in the first half mile. However, it is so worth it and then it is so fun to spend the rest of the hike along the ridgeline. There were a lot of large hawks flying around and makes for a good bird watching. Once you get past that first summit with the graffiti rocks, there are few people hiking along the rest of the trail.

Ledges and more ledges! Not a trail to be taken by those uncomfortable with heights or during very wet weather! Today was dry and overcast, so the conditions were fine along with the views. Basically all of your elevation occurs in the first half-mile and then you walk the ridge edge to the summit - which is a bit disappointing due to the aging communications buildings. But plenty of ledge areas the whole way to sit and enjoy! Just a note on trail naming - if you walk up to the sign junction about 0.1m in , you’ll find you are at the Quarry Trail and the “New England Trail” (new sign) with NO MENTION of either M-M Trail or Mt. Tom (??). It certainly made me wonder where I was - but no fear, head uphill to the right and you are headed to Mt. Tom.

A great hike for anyone willing to do some steep climbing! We went down when we got to the peak instead of turning back around. It brought us to the paved road at the park entrance and we walked to the car from there. Great views all along!

The cliffs and views are impressive.

Combined hike up to radio tower and then Whiting Reservoir.

I was pleasantly surprised by this Mount Tom. I figured it would be a quick in and out. The initial trail is pretty short and not too difficult. Then you keep going. the trail raises and falls, this makes for a solid workout. The trail snakes along the Ridgeline and gives you some sun, breeze, and decent views of Northampton and Holyoke. watch out for Trap rock! Hawks soaring overhead are always a plus

Definitely ran into a coyote on my run this morning... it didn’t seem overly bothered with me, but it was walking right down the trail.

Great trails. Beautiful scenery. There’s many different trails and different lengths!

It was very muddy in some spots that I went through. Besides the mud, the walk and view was great.

Beautiful trail, much of it along the ridge with beautiful sweeping views of Easthampton and the valley. Some parts not recommended for people with fear of heights! Though some alternate trails offer alternates to the cliff edge segments.

Fun and exciting trail! My wife and I were both rewarded with beautiful, scenic lookouts over western Mass. No doubt, this was one of the best picturesque hikes in the local area.

I had a major itch to hike Mt. Tom Friday afternoon. It was the first 80F/27C with 50% humidity day here in western Massachusetts. My wife and I did the Metacomet-Monadnock (Quarry) Trail. The trail revealed some excellent scenic views and we were able to hike along the cliff edges, which was entertaining. Overall, one of my favorite trails in New England.
