This is a beaaaaaautiful trail, but if you have dogs, BEWARE! The last 3/5 times I’ve gone, I’ve spotted a porcupine and I had to rush away and go to a different trail. This is only a problem starting in May. Especially if it’s overcast! Park by the “road closed” sign. It’s a 5 minute walk up the road before you hit the trail. You can drive up there too, but careful, it gets very muddy and you could get stuck!

Invigorating hike. Righty away you start up the 688 feet elevation – heart pumping and sounds from I-90 vanishing as you ascend …. At the summit it’s wonderfully quiet and the older forest is amazing, in all directions. The hike to the pond is fun and we enjoyed some water and relaxation taking in all that was around us. The journey back to HWY 20 was equally as invigorating, but in a vastly different way. On this May afternoon we met three couples, all masked and all very courteous. Can’t wait to take this trip in the Fall!

Could be a very scenic trail around the marsh, but it’s overgrown with poison ivy in some places, and a lot of the wooden planks through the marsh are rotted and no longer passable. It’s a shame given that it could be a marquee hiking/running trail through the forest. It’s buggy in late May during black fly season. If you’re hearty it’s worth a trip, and if your searching for a trail run, you can add on the dirt roads, but it’s hard to justify given it’s current state. Go for the AT if in the area.

Beautiful hike. Upper Goose Pond is gorgeous and peaceful. Trail is well maintained. My fitbit said the hike was longer then what was listed, alittle over 2 Miles.

Bang for your buck here. It's super easy and quick. An after work fight the daylight out and back. The view is spectacular for the short hike it is!

Fun short hike to beautiful Warner Hill. Rained but made it more enjoyable.

Good trail. Not much to see at the pond. My 6-year old hiked without my help.

The part of the trail that apparently is off the main road doesn’t seem to exist we just walked the road. Worse the section of the hike parallel to that on the other side of the lake is used by cars which has turned it into a swamp.

Nice easy hike with a great view on Warner Hill. There's a few spots to set up a tent as well.

Can’t recommend this trail. Very rocky. Hard to navigate. Basically the trail is road wash out.

It was a great trail. A lot of fun to meet hikers who are hiking through and it was beautiful weather. It is steep in the beginning so if you’re bringing kids or what have you just know that it is a little bit of a climb but it’s worth it. The “pond” is amazing.

Great hike. Many hikers are on the trail. Some are thru hikers from Georgia or Maine. Not many level spots, you are either climbing or going down hill. Plenty of rocks and roots.

We used the Finerty Trail (south from the pond) to return to Route 8 & 20 after our small AT hike from the road to the lake. This is a boring trail along a VERY rocky ATV road. The map makes it look like the trail extends south of Tyne Road to hook back up to the AT trail. While technically this is true, the vast majority of this portion of trail is along a road in the power corridor; at the end look out for a yellow sign on a tree to the right which will bring you down to the AT.

This is a really nice hike, that can possess muddy and wet areas after some rains. I rate the beginning section more on a moderate than easy, simply because of the steepness. It’s not a ridiculous haul, just an area that gives me a slower going - wouldn’t be as bad if in better shape. There are some small streams, lots of fungi, and plenty of friendly hikers along the trail. The trail is well marked and maintained. The shelter area is worth the trip. If you traverse the trail during the busy season there will be folks hanging out at the shelter, some resting up while thru hiking. There are two docks, and a canoe down by the water - that possesses a wonderful view. While the body of water is listed as a pond, the size says more lake While the hike description lists it as 3.4 miles up and back, from the Lee parking area to the shelter is 4.5 miles - worth the extra mile, in my view.

This is NOT an easy trail- whoever wrote that was delirious. We tried this trail for the first time, made it through the first swamp action, very tricky, lots of rotted planks, deep mud, and nothing to hang on to! Took the Knob loop, pretty steep and rugged and decided to head back without completing the entire loop. Another day perhaps with better footwear, water and time. The dog had fun though!

Very nice hike with beautiful pond, loved meeting travelers on the AT!!

Don't go when the bugs are bad! Got chased right out by biting flies! Regardless, I had a ton of fun running the whole thing. Planks, roots, marsh. Cool place.

Overgrown trails, with a good portion running through a swamp. Mossy overgrowth on rocks made for a tricky traverse through some very muddy sections. Came across some day old bear scat as I came upon the swampy marsh section.

Just off the AT, did not find it to be quite a loop, and loop requires walking on main road. Definitely off the beaten path. Short walk to small lake/pond w view, however no easy water entry point.

The trail is an easy walk. It goes around the lake but not many access points to the lake. The area that is easy to access is for the water supply and it's a no trespassing area.
