icy at times, had to stay left or right of trail. had to go slow. alaways a fun hike.

Amazing hike up Mount Watatic, a little strenuous but a very nice view from the peak. You can even see the Boston Skyline from the top of the second peak

Easy side of moderate with lots of roots, mud, flat rocks.

Excellent trail, very people and dog friendly. Hike it early as it gets quite busy after 11, especially on weekends. A very moderate hike that can be made in under two hours. Take the few extra minute to go to East side of peak to get a nicer view to the east. Mt. Wachusetts is prominent to the South, but you have to find just the right spot to see Monadnock to the West. Lots of hawks during migrating seasons.

A nice trail with a lot of interesting features! Very rocky up to the summit Would have loved to see from the summit on a clear day! Anne johnston

Took the clockwise loop up Midstate to Wapack... less steep. Couldn’t see a view from Nuttings Hill but the views from Watatic were very good. I was the only person on the peak when I arrived, 9:30 on a Wednesday, but the parking lot was filling up as I was leaving. Definitely one of the better views in Ma. Trails can be very confusing without a GPS. A few more signs at the various junctions would be helpful.

Did the Wapack trail on Saturday. Nice steep climb and beautiful views!

One of the best easy hikes around. Used to always do an out and back trail up Watatic, but I tried this a few weeks ago and again yesterday, and it was great! My hiking partners liked this loop better both times.

Trail fairly well marked. Mid point has some steep parts so pace yourself or you'll be panting as it can get strenuous in parts. . Weekends are crowded but no problem, you can park on the side of road if you have too. Views are excellent. Saw plenty of hawks migrating south at summit

Good cardio workout for sure

I'm biased since this has been in my back yard since I was born.

Love this trail!! I did about 4 or 5 sunrise hikes here in July and I have nothing but good things to say about the trail and the view at the top!
There is a couple very very rocky sections but the majority is a nice dirt trail

This hike was suggested to me by a friend that grew up near Mt. Watatic. I hike almost weekly year round in the White Mountains and really had no interest in such a small hill due to being spoiled by views from the "real" mountains up North. So, after a boring day at home and feeling restless I decided to do this hike and watch the sunset as it is only 45 minutes from home. I have to say the views took me by surprise! 270 degree open views that give the feeling you are on a much higher peak. The hike up has some steep sections but overall is very doable for the average person. It would be a great introductory hike for a beginner as well as children. Unfortunately, the western view was somewhat obscured by trees so the sunset idea did not work out as good as I hoped, although I bet a sunrise hike would be outstanding, so I will return. The trail is well marked with yellow triangles, however, care will be needed to stay on the actual trail as many people have strayed and wandered off trail in the midsection creating random paths that weave about. The good news for those not comfortable with wilderness navigation is all these extra paths seem to blend back into the main trail so getting lost is not a real concern. To sum it up...If you are new to hiking or wish to take a newbie or children for day out this is a great choice. Pack a picnic and hike at a comfortable pace and soon you will be treated to big mountain views ! ! !

I’m not sure if we went the wrong way but we found this to be mainly flat and were looking forward to elevation; it was steep at the beginning but flattened out and lead to a road with house on it ; didn’t feel like a hike to me: the signs went very clear of where to go either !

Very nice hike and a good cardio workout. The view on the top was breathtaking!

Loved this trail! Beautiful 360 view on a treeless summit upon Mt Watatic. The hike up was steep to the mountain with roots, rocks, and pine straw. The second summit down was the best view. You could see everything, even Boston!

Nice hike, close to Boston. It was surprisingly buggy for June, but nothing a little bug spray couldn't fix.

nice loop hike with decent views. can add additional miles by following trails to NH state line and beyond

So Fun! Easy but a nice challenge too! Great place to hang out and slow down, enjoy the view!

Pretty crowded even around dinner time on Sunday. BUGGY! Views are decent, lots of gorgeous ferns.

Hiked May 26, lovely wildflowers along the trails-- lady slippers, trillium, yellow blue bead lilies, starflowers - nice view from summit, bit muddy in spring

Great short hike that gives you enough of an elevation gain to consider it your exercise for the day. On the weekends it can get very crowded, but during the weekdays you can enjoy the beautiful view virtually alone. I suggest staying to the left when you encounter the first fork in the trail. The trail marker says to go right for the summit, but they both get you to the same place and I prefer the trail to the left.

Short hike with an AMAZING view! Trail markings on the way down were a little confusing.

Great, short, moderate hike (about 1.5 - 2 hours) that's well marked and easy to follow.

was well marked and had a descent elevation. the summit seemed very spread out and unfortunately view points were too crowded with climbers today. got visited by a hawk which made up for the lack of views.

Did this hike for the first time, had great weather but lots of mudholes just as a heads up for current conditions.

only went to the temple mountain lookout, but a great view and solid trail.

Too many dogs not on their leash. I don’t mind dogs, just not in my space while I’m hiking.
