Beautiful hike. I got lost but managed to find myself back on a trail! Found a rattle snake so be aware of your surroundings. Happy hiking :)

Nice hike uphill to the North and South overlooks. Saw a beautiful timber rattlesnake sunbathing on the South overlook.

This is a beautiful forested trail with some moderate climbs. We tacked on a portion of the Thurmond Vista trail for some additional distance and views, cutting back to the visitors center before Wolf rock (roughly 6 miles total). It took us about 2hrs 40 min with some stops to take in the views and the falls. Recommend going counterclockwise.

Great...I'd definitely do it again.

Not a big fan of this one. This felt like a long walk in the woods. The woods are beautiful, but there is no “real” overlook. I did not get the sense of a “summit”. Lastly, Cunningham Falls was a little disappointing. I expected more. Plus, the fact that the falls is not technically part of the hike(it has its own parking lot) took away some of the experience to me.

My husband and I are beginner hikers, we hiked up to Wolf Rock, and really enjoyed it a lot. Chimney Rock is the next destination on this hike!

Great Trail! I did it counter-clockwise. Strongly recommend getting there early if you’re going on Sat or Sun as the lot can fill up quickly. The trails are well marked, so the risk of getting lost is low. Sections of the trail can be wet if there has been recent rain, but very little mud.

Lots of rocky outcroppings. Not for the beginner hiker.

Fantastic trail! Well marked and challenging but worth the views.

Super easy trail. Great for kids.

Good time to go in summer especially after the rains when the fall has good amount of running water. Had a great time climbing the rocks along the fall. I wouldn’t say it is an ‘easy’ hike but a moderate to hard one. You can also sit by the river which is near the parking lot and enjoy a picnic. Will definitely go again.

We visited the falls after a few good days of rain and the flow was amazing. The signage at the trailhead shows it as a 1/2 mile out and back. To make it a loop you must take the cliff trail for a bit.

Well marked trail with rewarding rock outcrops . Great 1/2 day hike. We like to do this in early spring and late fall.

AMAZING HIKE!! Absolute smoker if you love hiking for time!!

Some nice views and challenging terrain at times. Walking through the woods was beautiful!

It was good not that great. but you will have couple of good views up there. for me its good experience because i climbed rock which is little bit challenging.

We really enjoyed this hike. With the easy rating, we expected it to be flat but were pleasantly surprised by the inclines.

Cute place to swim in waterfalls!

We decided to kick of the 4th of July with a booty burner hike! It was already 85 degrees when we woke up. We sweated our ass off and got a good hike in. It was around 100 degrees by 11 am. We took the dog and ended up only doing 2.3 miles because he was struggling in the heat and we didn’t want to push him. We passed a dog that was extremely stressed and over heated on the way up. Park service came to assist the owner in getting the dog down the trail to get help. It was hard to see the dog in that condition. I’ve thought about the dog all day and pray he made it. Bring PLENTY of water to hydrate for everyone!!! Great hike. Looking forward to finishing the entire loop another time.

The first 1.2 miles are uphill and moderate to hard steep. Only water source is .5 mile up the trail so bring 2 liters of water to be safe. When rock scrambling up to Cat Rock be very careful if there is any moisture. Rocks will be slick as ice.
Once heading leaving Cat Rock you'll climb another 200ft or so and then mostly flat. Once getting to Bob's Hill be VERY CAREFUL OF A RATTLE SNAKE ! Saw a 4ft rattler sun bathing on the overlook to the right. I've lived in there area my whole life and have never seen a rattle snake in the woods and I have spent a ton of time out here. Enjoy your hike !

Great hike! Cooler than staying in DC! Lots of boulders to climb!

great loop, beautiful vistas. the falls were somewhat crowded.

Fun hike. Nice overlooks and rocks for good bouldering action. I’ve taken this hike many times...

so I've only been hiking since March 2018. I did Bob's hill only from the William houck parking lot.

It's about 1.8 miles straight up! being a beginner this was a tough trail. for 9 tenths of the mile you go up up up and when you get to almost a mile it levels out for a second then you climb for about 2 tenths of a mile more til your legs wanna fall off and it levels out for a bit. how ever your still on an incline. when you get to the last 2 tenths of a mile it's straight up again.

bring plenty if water and perhaps a protein bar.

When you reach Bob's hill you can go left or right to see the views which make this climb well worth the struggle.

two things...i did come across a snake on the south side. almost stepped on it! could of been a corn snake or copperhead. I didn't wanna find out.

secondly take care coming down if you don't continue to cat rock. with all the rain the trail is very slippery and I slid down the log timber "steps" at the beginning of the decent and got a nice bruise not only on my back but my ego as well.

someone advised me to take a walking stick. it helps if you come across a snake. I was the only one on this trail.

nice hike, plenty of shade, some muddy spots.

I would not say this is hard but more moderate. It however was very rocky in places. The first stop we could not really see anything just trees but was a nice hike. Chimney Rock was a nice view no snakes while we were there but lots of lizards. It was worth the walk.

Fun trail with nice views, good elevation changes, and friendly people. Most of the hike is in the shade with a good halfway point parking lot with bathroom and picnic tables.

Nice view at chimney Rock, actually saw a juvenile rattler so beware. had a 3 year old and that was tough at times but he was a champ. Def a tough Rocky trail, wouldn't recommend unless you are ready to sweat.

Probably one of the best hikes for the area!! Crossing the road to get to the falls was a little precarious and some of the trail has stretches that run alongside the road unfortunately. It did have some fun challenges though and wolf rock was pretty cool to see! Definitely recommend doing it counterclockwise. I did also catch a woodpecker in action!!

only did 8 miles to Bob's hill and back . nice hike with doggos
