great wildlife and good shade

Trail B east end has closed sign

Nice trail! A little over 7 miles though. Relatively simple and easy to follow, but it’s still good to check the map if you’re confused because there are a lot of trails that cross the loop. Well maintained and beautiful. Went on a Sunday and it was pretty busy, but it’s long enough to not get crowded.

This hike is closer to 8mi than 6.8mi if you follow the map. It's a straightforward trail that takes you along the Potomac River until you veer off along Violettes Lock Rd. I highly recommend that you have the AllTrails map open for the remainder of the hike past this point, since this trail doesn't take you solely on Blockhouse Point Loop. It's a combo of a bunch of other intersecting trails. All in all a nice hike, though, with great views of the river! There's a small parking lot at the trailhead.

Afternoon 5/31/2020 hike. A little I’ve 7 miles. Amazon views of the Potomac River by the TowPath.

Wonderful trail! Amazing views. We did it with 4 kids from 3 to 14 years old. Granted, we have been hiking several times a week for over 2 months. It is not a first time kind of hike. Difficult parts with steep rocks, but very worth it! Billy Goat trails does not allow dogs. The waterfalls view is worth the extra mile :)

Too crowded

This was a great park and a great hike. Very, very busy. The parking lot is closed so you can only park on the streets around the park, not ideal, I hate parking in front of residential homes. The falls were beautiful, there were also ample places to stop near the river and rest. I very much recommend this park and trail.

Section C is a lot of climbing. There are trail markers but you basically have to find your own path for the majority of it. The climbing is worth if for the views of the river. Although many people wore just athletic shoes, boots would make your life a lot easier! From start to finish, took about 5 hours, with a few stops in between. Also the hike was more like 8.5 miles.

First section was fun. 4 year old prevented completion today. Will return and do other parts

4 stars because the waterfalls are very beautiful. The trail to get there and the crowds deserve 2 stars. However, it is worth putting up with the crowds to see the white waters of the Potomac river. Trail is easy and can be muddy. If you can, go after heavy rains, the falls are at their best.

Lovely trail with great views of the river and some short rock scrambles. Relatively flat. Trail in good condition and not too crowded. Section C is open during COVID times, but A and B are closed due to high water.

During stay home order amid of Coronavirus pandemic, this trail is quiet and in two hours early in the morning I didn’t encounter anyone. Highlight was the numerous conjoined large trees, a few even 3 or 4 trees joined at the bottom. Easy walk.

Difficult parking. Hard to maintain social distancing at times. Views and wildlife were amazing. Easy walk. Billy Goat Trail A closed due to flooding.

A lot of the trail was closed. Still was able to walk around, but due to floods and the Coronavirus, things were slightly harder to access. Really fun, and had lots of cool photo spots!

The 1st and 3rd parts harder while the middle part is the easiest. the middle is from Pennyfield lock to Violettes lock. mostly flat and you are between the canal and Potomac River. the 1st part is along the end of the Muddy Branch trail. Turning off of Violettes Rd you walk just outside of the park property until the road turns but you go straight. the beginning is hard to notice for a while. after that, it's a combination of different trails until you get back.

during vivid many parking lots closed so plan accordingly

Very pleasant family hike, easy terrain, a few short and moderately uphill sections otherwise mostly flat. I hiked it on a rainy day and the vegetation was very lush. The app is a little off on this one and does not include several intersecting trails so it can get confusing. Make sure your phone is fully charged if you don’t know the area.

Its good for biking and walking ... the parking is closed the main entrance gate is close so you have to park your car at the side street and have a long walk to the parking lots. once you got there then you start your trail. Its good view and good for fresh air..
