Trail had decent amount of variation. Sticker vines starting to overtake the trail. Bring big spray this time of year. There were a number of trails shooting off the loop that were not marked on AllTrails that made parts confusing.

Great trail. The app let us down though. Good thing we know the trail!

Mostly shaded with one sunny stretch, this is a pleasant hike even in summer. Good markings, only occasionally lost confidence at the beginning. Once we saw the clear signs at intersections, we never felt off the trail.

Trail was in good condition and not too crowded. I enjoyed the variety of woods and open field. Ups and downs as opposed to all up then all down.

Excellent, well maintained and marked easy/moderate trail. We did it with our 10 and 12 year old girls who did it without issue. We started on the farm road trail, which runs along a little creek for a bit. It starts off in the woods with nice shade, and then cuts through an open field in the sun. This would be a nice spot for a picnic. We took the first cut through to the Susquehanna Ridge Trail, which has some interesting old and abandoned structures (barn, silo, and stables). We then followed the Susquehanna Ridge Trail back to the Deer Creek Picnic Area.

Lovely trail along the water, in the woods and along a field. Heavily trafficked but otherwise pleasant.

I failed at following the trail - in fact never saw signs for “Rock Run Grist Mill”. After a bit of meandering, found Farm Road trail (I think). The loop would have been successful had I taken Deer Creek trail midway through. Very lovely. Done before 11 am. Only passed 3 people on the hike, a few more in parking lots. Nice elevation gain, especially for my first hike since quarantine.

Great trail with a variety of terrain and beautiful views. A bit overgrown in some areas and not well marked, though (there are a lot of intersecting trails, so I'm glad I had the app to help me get/stay on THIS route).

Mixed feelings about this hike. Overall the trails were really nice, but I had to keep my phone close to follow the app in order to stay on the loop - which is a bummer when you want to disconnect. Got quite turned around in the beginning and had to hike an extra mile or so on other trails before I made it on to the correct loop. I wish there were more blazes as I also went down the wrong trail a few times and had to double back due to wrong/missing marks. But despite all of that, it was a beautiful, fun hike with lots to look at and explore. It would be a lot easier next time now that I have an idea of where to go.

Really nice trail, we did from the intersection of Lapidum and Stafford roads (the Tavern ruins) to the trail that leads to Steppingstone Museum, then from Steppingstone Museum’s main entrance back to Lapidum/Stafford roads. Short area of steep grades, but a random bench at a clearing lets one see Port Deposit across the river. After that, it was a very nice trail. We turned to Steppingstone after finding the ridge trail was narrow with a somewhat large drop on the east side, with concern our preschool-aged children could trip and fall. The trail from Steppingstone back was nice and mildly sloped. Was not too busy, trails are narrow but totally passable.

HikingMuddyRockyWashed out

Wash-out and overgrown going north along river. Old rail road tracks with rotting ties and rusting rail. Some wash-outs are 5 feet deep going down and up the space of 6-8 feet. Along the river counter-clockwise was nice once off the rail-trail. Shaded, breezy, water always through trees on the right hand side. Along the southern-tracking western leg return, after the picnic and rest area trail-head, there is a fork in the trail. We chose the one on the left, which was the one on the track-map. Should've chosen the one on the right. Trail went winding uphill and downhill and gets unreasonably rocky with back country hiking frame-pack sized boulders creating awkward footing for anyone with a leashed dog. We ended up blazing one of the many "screw this" trails other people had made down to the road and walking along the shoulder back the the trail-head to ensure all were safe.

This trail was great. As others have said there is a nice change in terrain and plenty to look at. It was nice ending the loop along the river. Note that you do not have to walk on the road to get back to the parking lot. there are old train tracks that create a path although it looked kind of wild and overgrown in some parts. Road wasnt busy, however, if you'd prefer that route. Enjoy!

Nice varied environments. Up through the forest, hilltop meadow, then back along the river. No shade in the meadow, would be very hot on a sunny summer day.
