It was only in the mid 40's but with the sun out it seem much hotter. - No Wind - Not many people on the trail so I guess every body is shopping at the mall. - Ho! Ho! Ho! - Christmas is right around the corner. - I love being ONE with nature. - The loop I hike in this area is quite rocky but I enjoy the train tunnel and the hike along the tracks down to the stream. - I some how missed the trail down in the campground but I used the GPS tracking on All-trails to find it again.

Short trail. I recommend walking down to the bridge. But that walk back up is a killer.

Was a well maintained trail with beautiful scenery but as others have said you could hear RT 70 noise for a portion of it.

Normally love this trail but it’s closed right now

Happy Halloween. - It's 70 degrees outside and the Fall Colors are popping at Centennial Lake. - With the weather being so nice the park was super crowded with Hiker, Walker, Runners and tons of Dogs. With the puppies, we added a few of the earthen dirt trail but basically the entire park has blacktop paved trails. This was the first time we brought our two Beagles here. - They Loved It. - Being a senior, I get into ALL Federal and State Parks free. - A.A. County Parks is a different story. They charge seniors 5 dollars and others 6. ** Howard County Parks are FREE. **

Wow, The last time I hiked this section was in February. - Most of the old stone road trail that heads upstream is a mud hole. - It's best to hike the sand trail along the stream edge. - There is a few ways to shorten or simply make this loop easier but so many people are missing the best features to this loop.- As you hike up along the river go pass the first left trail and take the second one up the mountain. - As you go up to the top always be quiet. - I see lots of deer here every time I come. Today we saw five. - TIP: It you hike in the late evening be sure to be off the Ridge before dark. - We had to use our Headlamps on the last quarter mile to the cave.

Great to walk with the family. Paved, plenty of shade, and lots of good water views. Also a nice playground to stop along the way.

Good trail for people who like a good workout with subtle challenge

Traveling towards Ellicott City, boardwalk portion of the trail currently fenced off.

Nice cement trail around a beautiful lake. Lots of activities for all ages...definitely gonna be frequenter at the park.

Apparently this trail is closed now due to flooding. It was a good trail. I wanted a quick bike ride after work before the sun went down, and this trail on a bike took me much less time than I thought, so maybe better for a walk than a bike until they stop construction and open up the whole trail. The trail is nice and paved though!

This trail is closed until further notice due to flood damage.

Easy, but fun! Had it at four stars, but then I thought “it’s perfect for what it is.” Five stars!

Easy and short trail but there are 1-2 steep areas where heavier set individuals may have trouble with footing.

Pretty easy trail, wonderful views of the river and even some spots that you can get down on the banks. I guess people can swim there since there were a lot of sandals and trash thrown around on some areas. We took the trail further down than what was on the app and found some nicer spots to view the river from. Overall my 6 year old had no problems. The way back up was a little rough since we were so hot but it wasn't to bad. I don't know how easy it would be if it had just rained as it seems like it would be hard due to the steepness of some areas so it probably gets slippery.

Good two hour walk. Saw a great old abandoned house with a vulture sitting on the roof. Great river access. Will be back with our kayaks!

I agree with the other reviews that this trail is more on the moderate end, especially if you're caught in the rain while on it like me. I had to stop a couple of times to catch my breath going back up. Overall a good trail, just be prepared.

Great hike today!!!! Dam project is underway but does not limit this hike. Grist Mill section is paved. Carried the 2 year old in the pack down and up, a few rocky seconds but we would do it again. He had a great time throwing sticks in the river and walking through the tunnel. Beware of limited parking at the Hilltop entrance, it was full even on this chilly day (Sunday) and we'll be making a DNR "donation" for unauthorized parking. We will do this one again!

This was a nice trail. It is very short so we added a couple of trail sections to it from the Old ranger Trail (blue) which made it about 2 miles. Still short but it was nice. We have had a lot of rain lately so around the pond was really muddy, but that gave us the chance to spy various animal tracks, which is one reason we went to begin with. Overall nice little walk today.

It was alright

I was done by 12 noon and it was already 90 degrees out. Be sure to carry plenty of water. I have now hiked this area many different ways. As I look at other recordings I see that people are missing the High Ridges. There is the one on the ( Backside of Daniels ) and the other is the ( Church Loop No: 1 ). Being a retire senior it's easy for me to hike during the weekdays. The parking here is now limited so beware of a crowd on weekends. The DNR closed off a large parking area we used in the pass. The canoe lot is always full so you need to park in front of the dam. The dam area has become a swimming hole and the DNR is not happy about that. Some people just can't read !!

Just the best hike! Took four kids from 4-10 years old and everyone had a great hike. Beautiful to see spring rising

Great walk for family with strollers! Ample coverage from the sun, beautiful trail, easy hike. Perfect for walking with littles!

it nice during the week, get a little bit more crowded on the weekends

A beautiful paved trail that is a great option when the others are muddy or snowy. Had a great time.

It’s more of a moderate trail rather than easy because the walk back up is terrible

Nice after work walk and nice views of the river and railroad bridge.

Loved it. Great place to take photos. A little slippery owing to all the mud but it is winter!

I nice walk. We take the grandson and our Golden Retriever as often as possible. The side trails are nice as well if you don't have small children with you.
Question - description above says the trail is 1.25 miles long but the out and back is 3.4 miles. I am an old guy and probably just don't understand new math but this just doesn't add up?? Does anyone know how long the trail is??
