Beware if you are linking trails and taking Buzzard Rock Trail to exit at the tunnel and the bike trail near Forest Glen Trail. The trail basically ends before the Forest Glenn trail and you will need to descend about 200 feet on a steep eroded path or go back and approach from another direction. It looks like the trails once connected but have degraded away. Made it down ok but if it was wet or muddy it may have been a different story.

This is a familiar, well-loved area for me so it’s hard to be objective. I just love Maryland hiking, and this park was part of my childhood world. The trail markers were clear and maintained so we could see the colors and tell where we were. There are a ton of trails here so it’s easy to get off the one you thought you were on and end up on another, but the views are lovely and the woods here remain a useful and important urban oasis. My only complaint is the amount of litter. I will never understand just leaving trash behind. I will definitely plan a hike soon with trash bags and gloves to try and clean up a little.

Agree that signage is limited and I relied heavily on the app's map. Fairly muddy a few days after rain. Will try going clockwise next time for downhill switchbacks and uphill rocky climb

Muddy due to a few days of rain. Some rocks on the trail. Parts of the trail are not marked well.

Great trail. A little challenging in wet areas and crossing over water. From the starting point at the first split be sure to stay right and you will come across the cascades. This will help in case you are doing the trail only to see the cascades. If you go left you will go the long way around before you get to them. If you don't have a map it can be confusing as you won't see some blue markings on the trees throughout the trail.

One river crossing is a little challenging.

Fun kid friendly loop with easy (but not free unless you have a park pass) parking. A few easy stream crossings and rocky ridge lines.

I enjoyed the hike and there was a lot of beautiful sections. The train tunnels added a sense of adventure. the water falls and pools of water made it even better. I was glad I brought my hiking poles it was slippery along most of the trails. Great Sunday hike.
