Overgrown, Hogweed... It’s the end of May and the trail is getting a bit overgrown. There are several places on the trail where hogweed is growing. Anyone walking or riding on the trail should be very careful, especially if you’re with younger children.

beautiful hike, full of mountain views to see and rocks to climb. I'll definitely do this hike again.

Hike was nice, mostly shaded, and had a few nice scenic views. It was decent to walk, however I would love to come back and run this trail! Has a few good inclines, trails are mostly clear, though there are some areas of loose rock of varying sizes.

Not my favorite trail but it wasn’t to bad. Got in some good incline work and the distance around the blue loop was nice. We went on a gorgeous day so the trail was over crowded. Probably why i didn’t like it as much. Hard to enjoy nature with hundreds of people around. Views were pretty.

Great trail! Parking is easy, but it’s best to get there early (when I left around noon on a Saturday, the parking lots were full). Trails are mostly shaded, which is nice. View at the top is beautiful!

I showed up at 12:30 p.m. on a Saturday, and the parking lots were full (except at the entrance of Sugarloaf). I parked there and walked up a mile or more to get to the overlook/start point, which has a nice view. The trail is mostly shaded and somewhat rocky. Expect to see a lot of people too.

Great loop. I started counterclockwise because there were so many people. I got there when the gates opened at 8:00am. Beautiful view at White Rocks. Very rocky. Hiking shoes are definitely recommended.

6.9 miles of Wonderful hiking! It is well mark and excellent map provided! Beautiful views!

Nicely maintained trail. Very nice views with not too much of a challenge. I was very disappointed to see so many people and almost none wearing masks though. Definitely avoided sugarloaf mountain peak due to huge amounts of people. We stayed on the blue trail with had one short area with many fallen trees.

Great views in the beginning. I only made a portion of it. Well marked.

Foot traffic was a little heavy near the parking lots, but it thinned out after leaving the White Trail. Nice views, good inclines, good rock formations, lots of flowers and wildlife, and a couple of streams. Overall, a very nice trail.

The trail was really muddy for long stretches, and we had to cut it short once we realized there was no end to the mud. It might be a nice trail in a drought but I wouldn't recommend it otherwise.

Officially re-opened post pandemic closure. Beautiful Mother’s Day hiking. Even ran into a fellow Khruangbin fan at the western trail overlook!

Did this hike with 2 three year olds May 2, 2020. The bridge over RT adjacent to parking lot is closed for work and the parking lot half taken over by the construction. Was a great place for social distancing - only saw two other families and people were careful to move off the narrow path to let people pass. It was MUDDY after 3+ days of rain but lovely and we found little banks to scoot down to the large stream and throw rock in, look for salamanders, etc. Overall very pretty and worth the 50 minutes out of DC!

The trails are better maintained now than they have been in years, but still not well marked, and very muddy stretches. There isn't much exciting here, the big selling point right now is solitude. Watch for poison ivy if you track left going uphill after you cross the bridge. There are maps available online if you google Monocacy NRMA trail map, and multiple options for parking. Plenty of wildflowers in the spring, (bluebells, trillium, trout lilies, violets, may apples, jack-in-the-pulpit.) Bridge construction on rt 28 will be ongoing until fall 2020, weekends only (or so I was told.)

Great views! Easy hikes and so many trails and loops you can choose. Fun little mountain.

Very nice trail! So had to park about a half mile from the start because there is no parking nearby. Lots of rocks and muddy areas/little streams on this one. Recommend good shoes. Would definitely try it again.

It’s a beauty area but it’s closed due to Covid. :( Drove all the way there. Big sign: closed due to Covid19

Great for trail run-4 stars. Good for an easy hike-3 stars. Gets crowded quickly on a nice day but the crowds seem to mostly be making a quick ascent up SugarLoafs summit from Eastside parking lot. This trail conveniently avoids that spot, which is a plus. Would definitely run it another day but would wait awhile before hiking it.

Great moderate hike. Some steep sections and scenic overlook at the summit. Mostly wooded. Limited parking.

Not too many ascents or views but still good workout.

This was a nice trail! Up and down which allowed for my group of different hiking levels to complete. The trail isn’t as straightforward to follow as some others. We decided to go clockwise and at the end of the loop, we veered off onto the white trail to get back to the parking lot.
