Nice trail. Looped Lake Elkhorn then picked up the Patuxent Branch trail toward Savage. Marked well. Parked and then walked around Historic Savage Mill. Pretty views of the river

Very nice trail. My dogs loved smelling everything. I would give 5 stars but some of the trail was uneven and I kept twisting my ankle. Everyone we passed was friendly and the other dog parents controlled their pets.

This is a great little walk. Only thing keeping it from being a 5 star is how heavily trafficked it is. Still lovely for an evening walk

beautiful trail, nice people. great options. perfect with my two dogs.

very nice, especially when they are finished with making the trail 2' wider

A favorite urban hike

This is a great place with many opportunities to branch off and add distance, plus the exercise stations along part of it. For a longer route, try the Route 108 trail. From parking to the end is about 5 miles and then you have the journey back. Great exercise.

Two loop trails on paved, leveled path. I like Centennial Lake better.

Little walk after work thru downtown Columbia.

trail running

Nice and short. Lake is the center of many connected residential clusters. The lake is pretty nice and scenic. Great loop for novice runners/light joggers.

Great for a quick walk at the end of the day. At a moderate pace I can complete this loop in about 30 minutes. Mostly paved, one patch where you're walking on mulch. Lots of dogs, and part of the lake is fishing friendly.

Fairly crowded, but nice trail. Fully paved.

Nice walk. But, the trail crosses a parkway at a signal.

road biking
Thursday, July 27, 2017

I rode this trail after work one day; nice for road bikes. It was about 5pm and wasn't too crowded.

The paved trail goes around Lake Elkhorn and is very flat so good for a family ride. It's about 2 miles around so I did the loop twice and then followed signs to the Patuxent Branch Trail to add about another mile. If I kept going the trail would take you to Savage Mill. This part of the trail is in shady woods with very few people. Total ride at leisurely pace was half an hour. You could do lots of longer rides since many paved trails hook up to the loop around Lake Elkhorn.

Lake Elkhorn is a a nice place to walk/ Power Walk, jog ride bike or walk the dog. The view is is beautiful and a stress reliever there are many other path ways to go but all of the paths wil lead you back to Lake Elkhorn, there are signs to follow so that you won't get lost, so with that said enjoy your time at Lake Elkhorn.

Busy but nice to add the loop when biking the Patuxent River Trail or taking the dog for a walk. Like the exercise stations too!

Can be busy. Keep an eye out for bikers, they tend to go fast on this trail.

Beautiful, easy stroll along a paved trail around the lake. Not much challenge, but very nice.

Great view. Well maintained. Restaurants and Giant across from parking.

paddle sports
Monday, April 11, 2016

Canoeing doesn't really fit what I did but this is a Great Lake. Obviously there isn't a lot of room to paddle around but if your looking for a quiet place to test out a new canoe or learn the basics it works.

It was a great relaxation location after hearing bad news...

This is a very short trail that is probably most appealing to families visiting the Nature Center. The surface is natural, so no strollers. No dogs allowed.
