great loop. looks the the markings are new and easy to see. kinda cold today and slightly muddy but all in all great time playing in woods today.

Very nice first hike of the year. The trail was well marked. It is multipurpose so you have to watch for bikes. The dogs loved it too.

definitely moderate for a mountain bike

Fun hike but dont think patapsco maintains this as a whole trail - so, for a while it’s very hard to navigate and the tree markings just stop. My outcome was much more mileage than what is listed here on AllTrails

Great moderate hike! Very easily accessible via the park and ride in catonsville. A little muddy in places and there is one small stream crossing. I'll definitely be back!

Good solid trail for a quick hike with the dogs. The trails are well marked and I even passed a ranger twice. Half of the loop is quite narrow but still allows for people to pass. I only rated it 4/5 as it was a particularly wet and muddy trail as it crosses a stream multiple times. Bring waterproof boots.

Very nice loop even now in wintertimes, wear your hiking shoes for the muddy paths but it is totally worth it and not hard! River is very beautiful, if rainy you should be careful for possible floods (you have to walk through a tunnel) but on a dry day not a problem at all. We love that you can choose to do the natural trail in stead of the paved trail. We followed the app for instructions, easy.

Definitely hard to navigate. Not well marked. But really scenic!

Super busy on a nice day. Only one major bridge, so you don't get a full loop exactly unless you want to walk on the road.

Beautiful early winter conditions: sunny, but muddy. Found new trails thanks to this app

This trail had great views but was poorly marked with some hard areas.

Lots of leaves

The trail was great. Soapstone has some good climbs. Got turned around on bull run. Blazes are not consistent. Went left on the loop but never found the other side so we came back done. This plus soapstone was 3.92.

Make sure you have your alltrails app. Lots of intersecting trails and hardly anything is marked. "turn around and go back" a bunch!. But it was a great family 5 miler with lots of different scenery and path conditions along the way. A dozen or so bikes on a gorgeous Sunday, a few dogs, a few kids and long stretches with nobody. I feel like we earned our orienteering badge!

Ample parking & bathrooms in the fee area. Decent forest trails. Lots of up and down. Easy flat river walk on paved Grist Mill Trail. Trails seem popular with mountain bikers. Started at the Forest Glen Trail head. Missed the Pig's Run Junction as there was no signage otherwise blazing and signage was good. No fee parking available at the small Hilltop Road lot.

Started on sawmill branch (red) after going thru the tunnel. Followed that till it meets with Buzzards Rock (yellow) at the top of the “mountain”. Climbing out on the rocks is very cool. Great views. Hard scramble/slid at the end to get down.

beautiful along the river and good scenery overall. walked along in the fall and the further into the trail it becomes difficult to navigate, to be exact it's after the bridge. there's no markers so I relied on the map and directions without the premium subscription.
