the hike was beautiful and the Park Rangers or Volunteers were very helpful in getting me to the portion of trail I wanted to be at. I didn't see any rumored "ruins" but the trail has lots of waterfalls, a cool swinging bridge and lots of BIKES. The people on bikes were very friendly but they rode fast and you have very little time to move out of the way. I'd go again though.

I chose mountain biking because the trail has paved portions, but also unpaved along the main trail. The park's history is true, but as far as I know no one has been killed here. I've ridden this trail for a little over 8 years and have never had a problem with not feeling safe sure to people. On the weekend you'll see lots of hikers and bikers after 8am. I ride early to avoid people and usually see many deer.

The most danger I've ever seen was the occasional loose dog, but that's anywhere and I carry mace for such events. Also, the trail is a lot longer than 4.1 miles. You can take this trail all the way downtown close to the harbor. From the top trail head to Carroll Park is about 7 miles, and if you go back it's 14 miles. The only waterfalls are in Carroll Golf Course, but it's a manmade fall for excess storm water lol, and another true waterfall near the Windsor Mill trail head (this one is a shallow fall and it's about 30' below the trail.level so it's easy to miss).

This is my main trail. No problems and I recommend it. I'll also add that there are abandoned parts if the trail that are really interesting to check out (unused pavilions and parking lots and old trails that snake through the forest). You'll need to come through quite a few times to explore all of the trail branches.

Trail is mostly moderate with a few hills that will give you a workout on the way back. Bring water as the only water source is at the golf course.

Saw a surprising amount of wildlife in a short period of time.

AMAZING! Walkers, Bikers, furry friends, young & old, men & women, couples, singles culturally diverse. That's what makes America Great!

Linkin Park is no place you want to walk. I used to live near there but there's bodies are all the time. stay away from Linkin Park. I live there or should I say around her in the early seventies and it was bad then and now it's even gotten worse.

Apparently "At capacity", wasn't able to hike it. They also had signage saying there are current projects happening in the area effecting access.

*** FLOOD CONDITIONS ON THE BALTIMORE. COUNTY. SIDE ***
Today, I hiked the park road on one side of the park heading to the Glen Artney side of the Avalon section. - My pictures depict the damage on that side. - Only a few trails on that side are OPEN. - You can drive up to the Soapstone trail head and hike your way up to S. Rolling Rd. but the trail has a few detours. - The Inner Soapstone trail along Glen Artney Rd. is CLOSED. The Bull Run trail is also OPEN. - If you park up at the Fire Rd. you can hike the Santee towards the Hilton Area but trails leading to the Grist Mill are CLOSED. - The 2-mile Grist Mill trail is CLOSED and will be for the rest of the year. - All the footbridges are washed away. - The parking lot at the Lost Lake Pond is CLOSED. - It was a iffy day with the weather so I hiked the road knowing I could take shelter if needed. - The skies looked bad but the rain never came. - The ( Left ) Howard County side is ALL OPEN. Enjoy !!

Please remove the protruding blowdown at 39.23987, -76.74987 — it is a true hazard and someone could get hurt. Otherwise, 5 stars.

Ran a segment of the Avalon Loop Trail. Great trail for running, but watch out for bikers!

This segment is one of my go-to courses for training and mile repeats. 4 miles total.

Opened up again (at least the Morning Choice portion off of Landing Rd). I was here yesterday and despite being a bit muddy, it was a great hike. One of my favorites in close proximity to Baltimore.

Due to the weather we have had as of late, this section of the park is closed. The Avalon Loop doesn’t exist

Park opens at 9am! I got here at 6am to start my hike but gate is CLOSED! WTF

For the most part a nice walk along the waterfront, but gets a little repetitive. Was nice to be able to take the free water taxi back to my car at Canton park.

We love this place, it has a dog park that we usually start out at to let the dog run free, then we travel around the duck pond which always has tons of ducks and oriels if you catch them on migration (the places fills up with them in the spring) and then we head to the playground which is really good, then we trek on over to the pagoda and back down to the car. On certian days the pagoda is open to go into, dogs can not go into the pagoda and I have never been in it as it always seems to be closed or I have the dog with me. This place can get crazy busy with dogs and kids on weekends and in the summer, but still a wonderful place. By far one of our favorite places in Baltimore near us to go.

Great hike with fun stops along the way.

Nice area around the lake and for most of the trail. Paved the entire way. Little bit sketchier as you get past the post office section.

Great promenade connecting the neighborhoods of the harbor.

I live in the area and hike through Leakin Park all of the time. I have never been concerned for my safety. But of course, it is wise to bring a friend and cell phone. The park has excellent reception.

That being said, I am not sure which trail is being represented by this entry. The map looks like one leg of the GFT, a paved multiuser path. This path is over 15 miles, goes past Camden Yards, and has a great website and app if it's own.

There are hiking trails within Leakin Park. The friends of GF/LP website is a good starting point for info. Check out our ParkRun!

The stream that runs through the park is named the Gwynn Falls. There is no waterfall associated with it! Similar to the situation with the Jones Falls stream. The misnaming confuses a lot of people and is a bit unfortunate.

Poor Leakin park suffers from its urban location. If you come hiking, please bring a bag to pick up some trash. We appreciate your help. As do the foxes, owls, and other critters that make the park their home.

Im not sure why this is rated “moderate”. It’s as easy as walking on a sidewalk.

My friends and I walked through the park but never found the falls. We had an eerie vibe the whole time and ended up turning around and walking back the way we came because we did not feel safe/weren't sure if we were going the right way. I later researched the park and found out that it is a popular body-dumping site (over 70 bodies have been found there - including the girl from the podcast "Serial"). There are better and safer places to hike around this area.
