Length: 9.1 mi • Est. 4 h 22 m
The Annapolis Waterworks trail marker notes the trail goes to Defense Highway and Honeysuckle Lane. This recording documents the Housley Loop, via Defense highway to the Solar Park Loop and back. Initially this hike seems to be a walk in the woods but it has several features that make it an interesting hike. The trail has a blue marker on a tree near the trail head but that is the only blue marker visible at this time. The trail is easy to follow and has sections where the path is widened. Additionally there are some red flag markers along the way. The only area that is unclear is the return section of the Housley loop to the parking area. The 1st sign is a marker for the Housley Loop. A short distance away is a mountain bike ramp. The next marker is at the intersection of the Housley Loop and the Trail to Defense Highway and Solar Park Loop. The Annapolis Water Park area adjacent to Defense Highway has signs indicating where the trail is located. At the same spot there is a Dam regulating the water flow for the South water basin. Just past the basin there is an animal skull that points in the direction of the solar park. The Solar Park is surrounded by a fence and contains numerous solar panels. There is a beautiful open space next to the Solar Park. Overall the hike offers varied elevations and the natural beauty that is found in the woods. Show more

As of May 20th, 2020, users have reported that the Greenbury point portion of trail is closed. Please consult the park's website before visiting. Greenbury Point is by the Naval Academy golf course. There are two hikes here. One that is 3.3 miles (Nature Center and Tower Trails) and a 2 mile (Tower Trail). These trails are near an active rifle range. Sometimes this area is closed due to Naval Academy operations nearby, and the trailheads will have signs up indicating this. Please check here to determine the status of the area: https://mobile.twitter.com/NSAAnnapolis The Nature Center Trail can be very overgrown. The Tower Trail is a dirt road and is used a lot by walkers, joggers and bike riders.Show more
