Sorry to see all the negative reviews. As pointed out in the description there is an active range on some days. When the gates are closed you should not go around them. It’s an active range.
To see if the range is active check https://mobile.twitter.com/NSAAnnapolis.
Yes it is overgrown. MWR doesn’t take care of it. More folks should complain to them. www.navymwrannapolis.com
There is an Contact Us link on the page.
Hope this helps.

Attempted this recently - completely overgrown and not taken care of at all. There were several trailheads but none were able to be hiked. Also, be sure to check for ticks if you do attempt, found 6 on myself and 2 on my wife.

Nice after work walk. A lot of people walking dogs.

A little wonderland. Trail extremely well-maintained and marked. A nice mix of flat ground and inclines to get the heart rate up. Hooray for urban green spaces!

It was a nice incline but thought it would be longer. Due to some of the trail being closed due to flooding or remodeling(?) overall it was a nice little workout.

Really surprised by the negative reviews. Yes, it’s rustic. Isn’t that a good thing, once in a while? It’s quiet, and there are many places to stop and enjoy the view. It is rarely blocked off for walkers. If vehicle gates are closed it is quite easy to see the well worn paths that go around fences and gates for the hikers. If you like something that is highly developed, I guess you won’t like it. But if you like natural, rustic beauty, just the sounds of nature, and long portions of the path that go by the Bay or Severn River area, you can’t beat it. Some don’t like the view—when you’re not by the water you are walking by natural areas with brush and grasses that attract certain kinds of wildlife.

very enjoyable for a first time hikr. very well marked.

Nice paved path for bikes, trail was pretty empty on our early spring ride

nice walking, paved paths so I wouldn't call it hiking but still a good walk with the dog. aviary and gardens are pretty cool as well.

I live in Annapolis and wanted to get in some quick exercise so I figured why not try this. It would have been nice if the website told you when it is closed to public parking. There was a roadblock for a rugby tournament so you could not go to the parking area. After reading other reviews on here, I am not even going to try to go back on a different day.

Fun trail. Pretty easy. Thanks, Doug, for the tip about the HS.

great trail but beware that from now until April, parts or the trail are closed for stream restoration. If you access the trail from the marked trailhead at the library headquarters bldg, you can only do a one mile loop. It's only possible to connect to the most scenic section of the trail, behind Annapolis high school, if you are willing to go off trail,

For now, I recommend parking at Annapolis high school. Look for the many paths into the woods behind the athletic fields. It's challenging hiking with beautiful views of Broad Creek. You will see blue herons and may get lucky and see a bald eagle.

Great views of Annapolis and the bay, but not a very picturesque walk.

Hills and secluded once you get in there... felt like a nice hiking area... but easy to get lost! Luckily my friend had her dog and he lead the way ... I’m bringing a spray paint can next time to leave marks for the people that come after me :) we parked at Annapolis a high school which was a good starting spot.

Small loop is fun, hilly, need to watch out for tree roots but they can make helpful stairs! Large additional loop down past the high school is very poorly marked and we will not be going back.

Some of the best incline in all of AA county. Hard to find the trail from where All Trails says the trailhead is. I would suggest continuing on the main road to the next parking lot (Library and Recreation building) on the left. The actual trail head starts at the back of the parking lot. There is a literal sign that says “Trailhead,” you can’t miss it. Trail is pretty well blazed with orange diamond markers on trees. Be careful of all the roots that protrude from the ground, they can be slippery and dangerous.

Nice big open park full of flat paved walking path. A bit confusing on which way to go at forks at times but easy to wander off and find your way from the road if need be. Nice view of the south river and very dog friendly.

Pretty hard path to trail run - lots of hard slopes. Beautiful scenery that runs past a really pretty stretch of water, I would definitely say the hard parts are so worth the views. Be careful to look for the trail markers though, because while there are trail markers along the majority of the path, it gets a little hard to find at various parts. The path is not well worn at the most southern part and I had to use this app’s trail map and my google maps app to make sure I was staying on the proper path. Hard, but definitely worth it! Perfect in the autumn!

The terrain was easily manageable. The first mile is really a loop back to the trail head. At the 3/4 mile mark, just as the trail starts to incline quickly, there is a fork that takes you towards the creek and the remainder of the trail. You can easily miss it; and in doing so end up back at the beginning without having gotten into the meat if the trail. We made this mistake.

Not a bad trail.

Waste of time. Fenced off on main trail. Others completely overgrown. Very disappointing

This is a paved path, great for walking after it rains.

A nice moderately easy path through the woods. The entrance was tricky to find the first time and you can always hear nearby traffic but my dogs loved it and I'll definitely be going back.

I didn't like this trail very much; went for a run and got lost multiple times. I also ran right through the biggest spider web that I've ever seen, there was no way around it.

A significant portion of this trail passes through a live firing range. Along with steep drop offs, an overgrown path, and no trail markers, it is far from child friendly. This was not worth the time.

This is an easy ride & hike/walk for active kids. It has some great views of Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay, and you're almost guaranteed to see an Osprey flying around. My 6 & 4 year old love the trail and think the antennas are "cool".

I found it really difficult to find the trails. Wandered around for quite a while before I saw a trail head behind the nature center. Even that one was closed off by gates although some other hikers seem to ignore the warnings. Trails either terribly overgrown or paved and not marked. Not what I was expecting. Did I miss something?

Nice overlook by the kayak rental area. East side of park generally crowded with strollers, dog walkers and dog droppings. West side of trail very wooded and quieter. Many unpaved trails that are worth exploring.
