I actually did a great bike path loop. Some good climbs and views of the Atlantic. Also a short stretch along a road through lobster fishing community.

Low-trafficked hike out on the Schoodic Peninsula with some easy rock step climbing. Would also recommend even if it’s rainy. Cocoa the Hiking Dog completed it with ease, even after a small squirrel mishap on top of the Head. Would highly recommend this hike if the main chunk of Acadia is too busy.

Rained the whole time, actually enjoyed it. The east trail is basically a stream at that point. Some rock scrambling made a little tricker because of the water. A long stretch of this trail is actually a road to connect the east trail and the anvil trail. Amazing views when I had visibility.

Beautiful trail and views! While not difficult overall, it does have a few of steep sections. Well maintained and marked. “Steps” of rock and wood make the steep sections doable. Wildflowers, moss and a huge variety of trees, bushes, ferns and other plants make for a beautiful hike.

We added a little extra distance and a little more craggy climbing by starting on the Alder Trail and picking up the Anvil off the service road. Seeing the USGS mapmaking medallion from 1860 at Schoodic Head was cool. So was sunning ourselves on the rocks at the shore when we finished.

Loved this trail. It’s one of my all time favorites because of the beautiful terrain, a workout but not too strenuous, and we only ran into 1 other set of hikers

Short & Beautiful

One of my favorite trails in Acadia. Schoodic Peninsula is rarely crowded. No better place to feel like you have the whole park to yourself. This loop trail contains so much variation of landscape and geology. Grab a snack after this hike on the gorgeous rocky shoreline.

Beautiful trail, definitely recommend this as part of the loop trail!

The beginning of the hike is fairly steep. The overlooks are very nice. The hike is a mix of tree roots and climbing on rocks. This part of Acadia NP is really quiet.

Did the Anvil in and East Trail out + rock hoping on the shore back. The kids (9/11) loved the latter part, I would rate the Anvil as the most interesting section. Very quite and beautiful forest with overlooks once in a while. Quite and not challenging but loved it for the nature experience. Nor hard bit also not boring easy.

Excellent trail. Rarely busy traffic on this less traveled piece of Acadia National Park.

Fun, short hike. Trail had everything from soft paths through forest to some scrambles up boulders. challenging enough to be interesting, easy enough for a casual hike.

We hiked from the campground and approached the peak from Buck Cove trail. from that side, the trail up was beautiful and a steady incline. our descent was simple as we hiked down, there was little difficulty, but great beauty.

Nice hike to a high point. Good views and not so crowded.

It was a tough hike over the rocks but a beautiful hike through the woods. Trail well marked on the way up to overlook but we had to guess in spots coming down. The only person we saw was from the Schoodic Research getting ready for nature walks in the summer. The last part of the walk was on the road which wasn’t so bad because it was next to the water.

This is one of the best Maine hikes. Beautiful forest (lots of moss and wild blueberries), scenic overlooks, topographical changes, and it ends up at the coast! At points, it is a bit difficult to find the way, or to scramble up or down the rocks, but definitely worth it.

Went on a really foggy day so I couldn't see anything from the top. Still a really fun fairly easy hike. It was pretty cool to be in the fog at the top and a little like being in a video game.

We saw a pod of dolphins jumping through the waves very close to the rocks. So cool!

The climb up the mountain is a little tougher than you'd guess but it's a quick and easy hike. Did it at 8 am on a summer Saturday and only saw one other group of 2 people on the trail, a nice change of pace for Acadia.

The beginning was a little tricky but the view at the overlook was totally worth it. 10/10 would hike again.

I did a loop and went up Anvil, over and down Schoodic Head Trail, and back to the start via the Alder Trail (a totally flat path - I jogged it). I did the 2.65 loop with my dog in about 75 minutes. The trail is very lush and green with tons of moss and pines. At times I felt like I was in a fantasy movie set. There are some nice views but the trail itself is more of the main draw for me. It was quite slippery in parts and the full loop was challenging enough to be a great but fairly quick workout. Highly recommended
