Just hiked this yesterday (6/2/18) and was beautiful!
The road to the trailhead has had a lot of work done to it recently and is in nice shape. They could use a couple more signs along the way so you know which fork to take in the road – but other than that it’s all good.
The trail was in nice shape and well-marked. Views at the summit are spectacular!

The road to the trailhead was washed out in parts. Much of the road is covered in large river stones so big that driving on it was like off roaring. You can make it in a truck with high clearance but be prepared to rock and roll.

The trail was very gentle at first. It follows many small streams and crosses a few larger streams. Pick your footwear appropriately.

The view above the tree line is gorgeous.

Mt Abram is a great hike perfect for moderate to advanced hikers. The views are excellent when you get near the peak and the rock formations for the last 1/4 mile are great. Highly recommend.

Went down this way from a mount Ellen to Abraham loop. This is very rough terrain on the way down. Would be tricky with a dog.

Very challenging, vertical hike, but so worth the views! If you are curious enough to venture off trail, you may run into the plane that crashed on the mountain in the 1970s

Loved this hike. Very hard but great viewing at the summit

Nice hike. One of 14 4,000 footers in Maine. Treelined trail for first 2/3s then opens to alpine rockfall. Two large cairns at the top with the one left of the summit acting as a wind break. Had lunch and took a nap at the top. Perfect day!

The campsite is quiet located at the middle of the trail

This was a fun hike about 9 miles out and back. The tower is no longer upright there is an emergency shelter at the summit and a campsite with a new outhouse about 2/3 to halfway to summit. 360' views are outstanding trails were well marked inside the treeline. Above treeline it could be easy to get turned around if your not paying attention especially desending from the summit because the Cairns are sometimes far apart and small and hard to see. Other then that it's a great hike with a great view of spaulding and Sugarloaf mountains. Also the two bridges on the road heading to the trailhead are brand new and you can drive right up to the trailhead now no problem.

Good Hike. Bridges are rebuilt. After you go over 2nd bridge you take a right. You can park there or drive 1/2 mile up very rough road.

Both bridges out. Need to ford a stream and walk extra half mile to get to the trailhead.
