a shorter but beautiful hike! the climb wasn't bad for myself, my husband with a bad knee and ankle, and my two dogs, who absolutely loved Maine after this trip. after descending to the cove at low tide it was amazing to explore the nooks and pools that form. We went a little later in the day and so when we got to the cove is was almost dead silent and you felt a little isolated to just take in the beauty of the area. it was so interesting to see the original and old growth section on Acadia that hadn't been touched by the fire all those years ago... instead of the birch and maples that you see on the Bar Harbor side, which is beautiful in the fall... you get to see the deep evergreens and the canopy that envelopes you. this hike is a must for me when I go!

A very enjoyable walk. There is a bit of climbing, but most climbing sections have stairs, many stairs. The day we went was quite foggy and damp but the forest was dense with lots of moss and beautiful. The tide was in so there was no beach just big rocks. We did see a seal frolicking about.

Great view for a moderate and short ascent. Nice ending near the beach. Loop style. High reward to effort ratio.

Nice hike. Very scenic. Came down Mansell Mt. Trail which was a bit washed out rocky with roots.

Great hike! The first half (going counter-clockwise) may be challenging for a novice as it can get steep with lots of steps but the views are amazing. I do recommend starting on this side though, that way you can just relax during the last 0.5 miles after the beach - which is super flat and easy. I hiked with my 8 yr old dog who is not used to hikes and she did great. I did have to help her on some of the boulders but she loved it, especially the beach!

Great scenic trail and wonderful for taking the pups.

Beautiful views as you approach the summit!

This is a very nice hike and dog friendly. I’d start clockwise also and finish by the water. The first two miles have the incline and there are a fair amount of rocks but very manageable. It’s very enjoyable for a 5 mile hike.

Ventured down to MDI to try a combo of trails/loops. This loop is weak and mad easy unless you tie it into a 12 mile figure 8. We were going at an easy- moderate pace and up top in 14 minutes and that was with my older dog. If you re trying to bag all the hills in Acadia then using this loop will provide you time to hit numerous others in a day like Acadia Mtn which takes maybe 22 minutes.

Natures step mill. Get those quads and butts in shape

Mostly easy with moderate short rocky sections. Plenty of opportunities for pictures, multiple off main trail paths to scenic areas. Not a lot of parking spaces at trail head.

Great, solitary hike in the rain. No people, beautiful views on the way up and down that would be great for sunset. No views at the top as it is very wooded, but forest trail is full of dark evergreens with a soft, mossy floor. Very quiet!

Wonderful moderate trail with lots of great views.

We absolutely loved this hike! We went up Perpendicular, not down, so it was some Spiderman stair climbing from this one who is terrified of heights. Razorback was my guy's favorite part of this hike. The views at the top we're stunning (posting pics). This hike kicked my butt. While short compared to what we normally do, the steepness and rock faces took a steadier step. Loved the changes in terrain, the views, and that we saw no one else until the very end. Beautiful!

Wonderful short walk/hike around harbor to great granite rock ocean overlook! On a sunny day, many beautiful spots to sit and have lunch, bask in the sun while listening to the ocean and watching wildlife in and around both sides of the harbor. Can follow rocks and climb along the coast to other harbors and to other trails. Nice short day walk!

We hiked only the lake portion and only a bit. We were looking for easy end of day lake scenery hike. Definitely great for that. Stopped once the rock walking got heavier. We are over 70. FYI.

Beautiful trail and an easy walk.

Beautiful trail. The real treat about this trail is all the tide pooling that can be done a few hours before low tide...kids had a blast on this trail because of it.

well maintained trail with some rock scrambling, from the parking lot fairly vertical with many steps up to the top. Beautiful views. The trail down is fairly step also. Our Labrador Retriever loved the ocean swim at the rocky beach. From the beach it is a .5 mile flat logging type road back to the parking lot.

Beautiful place

Great little hike. Fun to look in the tide pools. Wear bug spray!

Nice easy morning walk

Beautiful hike. At low tide, the cove was almost completely cut off from the ocean - just a little stream between them that you can walk out into.
