Amazing views of an inlet and the ocean during the sunset.

Great path, well kept. Decent views of Somes Sound from the top.

Love this trail! It’s an easy nature walk that leads to a beautiful rocky shore! My kids love this!

Easy trail with high pay-offs. Classic views of rocky Maine coastline.

Lovely light hike up and long trail run down and back around lake (clockwise). No views out, but spectacular moments in a variety of woodland landscapes.

I wouldn't reccomend this trail for anyone with a moderately experienced dog. My 2 year old ACD struggled to get back down the steep parts of the trail.

Great hike but needs more and better markings. Views are beautiful

Fantastic views even on a cloudy day. Some pretty steep climbing both up and down but I think going left and hitting Acadia Mountain first looked a bit easier. We also skipped Valley Peak to avoid rain, but the hike was still 5.7 miles without it. Parking lot is easy to miss. Make sure you have a printed park pass before coming as there is no ranger station or area to pay on the way in.

Great hike, nice quick hike to the top with good views. Highlight for me was the beach when you get back down before the fire road. Felt very secluded and was scenic.

Great trail for all to hike including dogs on leash. Today we took in lobster rolls to eat on the rocks. Views are great from the water side path

Gorgeous trail, so fun! Lots of scrambles. Quite steep near the beginning, but worth it.

Perpendicular trail up Mansell is a 100 year old masterpiece of trail engineering. Some may prefer the Hilary Step, but the stairs up Mansell would be worth experiencing even if there was no view at the top. And there is a beautiful view! Make sure you walk out to the lookout point marked by the sign. The Bernard mountain part of this hike is not the best in Acadia, but we felt obligated because it was the only remaining 1000 footer we had not done in the Park. The trail from Great Notch up to Bernard is lightly traveled, and at one point the actual trail hooked left but a trodden path kept going straight. We went 1/4 mile down this path before it dead ended. It just seemed like it should be the trail, even though we didn’t see any blazes. Nevertheless, we recovered and found the real trail again. There is a lunch spot at the top with two benches with a pretty good view north, but Bernard is otherwise tree-covered and bereft of views...and people. Worth considering if you want a solitary experience.

Easy hike with 7 year old kids. Great view and access to the tidal pools to see snails and other wildlife. Bathroom is more of an outhouse and no water at the trail head. Great, flat easy hike.

Really nice. Figure “8” shaped with the water on one side and a forest trail on the other. We went at low tide and could go explore tide pools. Early morning after seeing the sun rise meant no other people on the hike with us which was nice

Enjoyable hike with beautiful views; including moss-filled wooded areas, rocky overlooks, and a beach area. (Note the adjoining Valley Cove Trail still closed as of Aug 8/22/2019). Flying Mountain Trail is easier, lower elevation. Then you'll walk on flat dirt/gravel road before heading up to a second loop. The views at both Valley Peak and Saint Sauveur Peak are beautiful! I recommend doing the upper loop clockwise. You'll first stroll through peaceful forest then you'll be facing Somes Sound as you complete the upper loop — while being treated to many amazing views.

Enjoyable, easy hike with beautiful views; including a moss-filled wooded area, rocky overlooks, and a beach area. Compared to many overlook/mountain hikes in Acadia, this was easy elevation wise. I generally don't enjoy walking gravel roads, but the dirt/gravel road portion is flat and pretty as well. Valley Cove Trail still closed as of Aug 8/22/2019. Agree with others, overall "best bang for your buck". TIP: Wear proper shoes. Wet rocks can be slippery even with good hiking boots. This is true throughout Acadia - lots of rocks. I noticed too many people attempting hikes wearing flip flops or sneakers. Noticed parents letting kids wear flip flops on the iron rung trails. And even an adult wearing flip flops on the Beehive trail.

Fun quick hike with beautiful views and a fun place to splash in the water (if you choose to!) We had a baby in a pack, saw kids and active senior citizens, and came across big and tiny dogs - ‘twas a hike for all! A couple of steep areas but easily doable for anyone who likes a quick summit!

Perfect trail for families and any one looking for a short easy loop trail. It’s a figure 8 and one side does along the coast and has areas where you can go down to the rocky shore. The other side is through the forest. There is some calm bays perfect for skipping rocks. It was pretty well traveled. There are bathrooms located in the parking area. Trail is in the middle of the parking. We didn’t have any issues with bugs at all, and it had rained that morning.

I was told this trail was one that gave you the “best value for your buck” and I would say that’s a great description. Not very steep and not too strenuous but scenes were great was a very pleasant loop.

This was a great little trail. We went counterclockwise so that the second half of our views were coastal and it was perfect! It’s rated as easy but definitely keeps you engaged with its short rock paths and access to the water in some parts. We didn’t have too much of a bug issue but I can imagine the mosquitoes would be bad with more humidity.
