Ride date 8/15/18. Pretty good ride. Great views once you get closer to Bug Light Park. A couple of busy intersections (to be expected) with cross walks and signals. Fairly well marked route. This trail is paved and wide enough for all users of the trail. Some trail maintenance is required as some bushes are overgrown and are in the trail. There is a small detour which is well marked as there is construction. There are a few bumpy spots from tree roots. We will definitely ride this trail again. There are some restaurants and stores along the route. Enjoy.

Rode it from Bug Island lighthouse to Rt 1 Scarborough (bout 10 miles),... The greenbelt itself was about 2.5 stars... too many intersections (some very busy) which breaks down your ride... It's also confusing at some points to continue in the path.... The ride gets better after about 3 miles into the path as you approach the landfill/recreation area... Uninterrupted, flat, well paved roads. The greenbelt then connects Rt 1 where shoulders are wide and rode conditions are very good... You can go for miles.... So to recap... First 3 miles or so ok, the rest awesome

Lots if overgrown brush into the trail otherwise the trail is nice. I went after 2 days of rain so the bugs were out of control.

Great place to come hang out for a few hours. Though the trail itself is short, there's plenty to do in each direction. Explore the fort, walk up to the lighthouse, walk on the beach to collect rocks and shells, sit on the many benches on scenic points to observe sailboats swaying slowly on the water. I went early morning (6 30 AM) and saw several dogs playing, kids digging in the sand, people strolling with coffee. Definitely a great place to take visiting family/friends for a quieter taste of the area waterfronts.

Nice path, paved all the way. Takes you through neighborhoods and nice nature stretches. A bit stop and go at times with crosswalks, but traffic in South Portland seems to be very cognisant and ready to stop. Great ride.

Cons: lots of trash, can hear the highway the entire time, & even what looks like a hobo camp.
Pros: a TON of different kinds of birds, easy, right off the highway.

Beautiful place completely ruined by inconsiderate dog owners. You can’t look around at the beautiful surroundings because of all the dog poop everywhere, unless you don’t mind stepping in it. Gorgeous place to walk turned into a dog park.

This is a nice trail that includes some good views of Clarks Pond even though it is bordered by a mall and highways. A little noisy but a good workout. In winter I saw signs of hikers, fat tire bikes, and cross-country skiers.

Road from Wainwright Park to Bug Light. Very flat/easy ride, but some very busy road crossings and questionable neighborhoods. Definitely classified as city riding for the most part. One major road crossing is confusing, three separate crossings to get back on the trail, Rt 77/Broadway. Bug Light Park is nice, but wouldn't do this section again.

Absolutely amazing! My dog adores this place! We go as often as we can.

Cycled from Biddeford down the Eastern Trail to the end of Scarborough and found my way to the this trail. Had to use my phones GPS because it was the first time cycling, and was a lot of road riding, got a little sketchy/confusing by MillCreekPark, but finally made it to Bug Light Park!

More like Hinckley Dog Park, everyone and there mother brings there inbred animals here to shit and piss everywhere. Attempted trail running, was an absolute pain, a municipal ordnance starting you are legally required to leash your animal unless it is voice controlled. Not even 3 minutes into the run when a women's dog began to chase and bark at my heels. I confronted the women, insisting to her should I discontinue running? With no leash she ignorantly replied "oh, it's no big deal, he doesn't like runners." Disgusted with the remark and still with a dog barking at my face, she realized quickly I would have thrown her animal and her ignorant self into the lake. She proceeded to move her dumpy body and restrain her animal. Don't go unless you expect to step in Dog shit.

Attempted again to give the "Dog Park" a try with a late evening mountain bike trail ride. Got shit in my tyres, had again individuals with no contest to abiding the law, and there half assed idea of "voice control". When attempting to bring my significant other to ride we were chased by ankle biters with not a single obedient account of training from there ignorant owners. This park is a very beautiful park and provides an amazing system of trail loops to keep you entertained for hours. This park is not and has never been prioritized for one specific activity but individuals continue to disregard rules and use this park as a bathroom for there animals. I would never dare swim in that cesspool of animal waste run off.

Added plus, attempted another trail run, on July 9th 2017, someone had let there dog puke animal kibble over the parking spaces, in the parking lot, not even 10 feet from the entry. If that isn't a dissatisfying enough account when on the trail you will no doubt be sucker punched with the stale smell of dog shit. I'll put money on it.

Walked from Wainright Field (ample parking, so long as minimal sporting events are taking place!) to Broadway and back in just under an hour waiting for my son's baseball team to warm up. The trail is paved making it perfect for biking or pushing a stroller and winds through some peaceful wooded areas. Would be fantastic for birding. I plan on making the entire trip to Bug Light soon!
