Great little hike, made a bit more difficult by some areas of deeper snow. Spikes were good, snowshoes would have been better. I can't wait to do this hike again and explore more of the trails once it's thawed a bit. The brook is beautiful and it is amazingly quiet. It was well marked aside from a couple of key places like at power lines and the trail junction, not too difficult to guess correctly though and probably more than easy to figure out if there were not snow and no previous tracks.

Great snowshoeing trail along the brook.

This is a great, easy trail. One of our favorite places to hike.

Alright trail.

Really cool trail close to home. Old foundations, waterfall, beaver pond. And a large balancing rock. Trail marked (white ) after pond.

I have done this walk many times over the years. The trail passes over family land. Love the river.

love the rail trail

We've gone there twice from the north entrance. Once hiking and once snow shoeing. Both times we had the picnic table at the field to ourselves. Nice to have an outhouse at the beginning and at the field.

Took Lodge-to-Lodge trail south to the Gorman Chairback Lodge (from Little Lyford Lodge) as part of a lodge to lodge X/C ski weekend. A very nice trail and the conditions were perfect as it warmed up a bit. Stayed in one of the cabins down on the pond and had a great time at the Lodge. This place is wicked awesome!

Great walk! Leads right to an amazing beach!

Super fun and scenic!

fun trails, cool landmarks. slightly hard to find

Great scramble up to the table lands!

Well marked and easy to traverse, but every dog was off-leash, which made it hard to walk with my 3 year old. He kept getting knocked over by excited puppies. The trail was to supposed to be a leashed area, so we weren’t expecting that.

Feel a bit mixed about this spot but overall the stars are for the actual trails - maintenance, scenery and diversity (some rocky spots and other fun, fast stretches great for woods running).

It is adjacent to the local landfill but the only ‘challenge’ this poses is one’s personal issue with its proximity. I didn’t notice until I heard the thousand gulls and crows as I ran over a knoll.
Otherwise you’d never know it. I do wonder how this effects the bodies of water that surround this area. It must. Something to keep in mind before letting your dog take a drink here!

Most notably....there are many, many trail intersects that are not marked and it is NOT straight forward as to which is which and who goes where. Others are very well indicated. So go and enjoy, but pay attention.

There are many nice little ID tags for the local flora along the routes ~ lovely that they did this.

And lastly...while I recommend this nice little network of Trails (great for fast, technical runs or just some meditative, Nature appreciation) and so loved visiting with my own pup, please please please Dog Parents...pick up after your pets! It was so sad to see the many ‘piles’ left behind by irresponsible people, even ON the trails:(

Rainy winter day and this trail is still great.

Perfect conditions for snowshoeing. Many trails are still untouched. Get out there!

I live near here and hike Sawyer Mountain twice a year. Very serene with interesting rock formations. A great forest hike that is steep in some places. Get the map from the trust and look for the cascading waterfall. It's beautiful and rarely visited, though it does require some scrambling.

Pretty walk. Lots of evidence of Sasquatch, if you have met Todd, you will understand. It's not a loop, I repeat: this is not a loop!

This short and pleasant family-friendly trail leads to the marshy shore of the Cousins River before it meets the Royal River to flow into Casco Bay.

beautiful, spacious air with a nice breeeeze!

This could be a great trail, but it needs work trimming branches to clear the path and better signage in several places.

Pleasant walk except for having too many biting insects.

Great in all seasons.

Perfect trail right in Portland

family favorite

One of my favorite loop trails. I usually do 3 laps.

Nicely groomed, should probably be listed as “easy”. Thank you!

An unseasonable warm December day for an amazing hike with great photo opportunities. Highly recommended!

Did this yesterday with my 14 year old dog who is in great shape. Lots of side trails to add to the mileage. Beautiful changes in scenery. Not sure why this is rated as moderate. I love it!
