The path was really a semi paved road, and it was pretty well populated with other “hikers.” It was however worth the final destination, that gorgeous beach.

WalkingGreat!

Lovely little trail that goes out to a beautiful open beach while winding through tranquil pine forests. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer walk!

HikingGreat!

The hike follows an old road (with minimal elevation gains and losses) leading through the woods, by some private residences, and to the beach. Nice walk with some views as you near the shore, that ends on a beach. Additional options to walk/hike along the shore for about a quarter mile once you reach the water.. Shore line offers walls of rocks that provides places for a picnic lunch. With COVED, bring a mask (people wear them as they pass others). Parking is more limited (due to COVED) than usual (to allow some space between cars). Once the parking lot is full you can’t get in. If that happens, come back a little later when it’s likely someone has left opening a spot. There is a lot attendant that manages the lot and the property is managed by the Bates College. See the link www.BMMparking.com for more info parking and some hike options (should this place be filled).

This a great local trail that I have taken the kids on multiple times this fall. I suspect the bugs would be rough during the spring and summer but in the fall it was gorgeous and provided a fun place to explore. My son wants me to add that it is, “really peaceful.” He’s right, it is.

My friends and I hiked this early morning, just in time to see the sunrise at the beach. Absolutely breathtaking!

easy climb on a really well-tended surface to a beautiful beach. Don't miss the short summit trail for a view from 167 ft.

It’s ok. Very nice to see moss all over the place. Beach is nice as well but mosquitoes are the worst. Put on a lot of repellent, no joke!!!

nice hike, really a walk down a road with a couple steep hills. beautiful beach! only a few people. many, many mosquitoes on the hike to and from, even on a sunny september day, definitely bring bug protection.

so like people said previously the mosquitoes are a bit thick in a few spots, but this is hiking after all, my 5 yr old was fine and we had no bug spray and put our sweatshirts on for a bit and we were fine, beach is pristine and beautiful only saw about 15 people all day, and only about 8 on the WHOLE beach and this was a Saturday. GREAT SPOT!

The views from the mountain and the beach are incredible. However, I’ve hiked a dozen times in the last two weeks here in my home state and never, never have I had such a swarm of mosquitoes. I am eaten alive.

I was looking for an easier trail my mother could navigate since she’s not a hiker. This trail fit the bill! Was easy to find and you walk along a roadway that’s sometimes paved and other times gravel. Some hills to navigate. Nice look out over the marsh and views of the ocean out about half way up. Can’t really comment on the beach as it was completely foggy when I went and couldn’t hardly see a thing in the distance. However the sand was clean, soft and nice!

From a hiking perspective, this is a nice 2 mile walk (on a wide, mostly dirt) road to a nice beach. Some were carrying towels and beach chairs... The first time we tried this we arrived at 10:30 am- and the parking lot was full (there is no overflow parking available). We tried again and arrived at 8:30. We got in, but there we very few spaces left.

This beach is beautiful! One of the prettiest ones I’ve seen in Maine. The walk is about 2 miles. It’s pretty easy. I just had flip flops on and I was fine. But be warned: I’ve never bern bitten so much before. The bugs were insane, even with drowning myself with bug spray. But, the beach was worth it. Truly a hidden gem. It’s very big, and not that many people know about it so there were barely any people there. There’s no umbrellas allowed so don’t plan on bringing that with you.
