Fairly easy trail hike even with a family of little kids, once you get to the ocean it is great to be isolated from the crowds

We loved the marsh, Mountain View of the marsh meeting the ocean and the quiet beach at the end. There was a hatching of mosquitoes right before we came, but the man at the entrance post was prepared with repellent to share. It mostly kept them off us, but they started flying into our car as soon as we opened the doors. They were a small inconvenience for all the beauty we were able to enjoy. There are no bathrooms so find a stop to go before getting there because we had to go back. Overall, we enjoyed the hike.

Wonderful little introduction to hiking for kiddos. All levels can do this. We bring a blanket and picnic and spend the day on the beach. Our daughter loves this!

Easy trail...many moms with strollers. The reward of the beach at the end makes it well worth it. The summit view is pretty, but not the most awesome "wow" view for a summit. Overall, well worth the hike.

Beautiful view! I would say this is quite a hike through the woods. Saw a bunch of wildlife on the way. Will sure be back soon!

Great trail. Get a little of everything. Only drawback, no high vistas really. We saw three bald eagles at the pond when we were there yesterday. We went counter clockwise and I agree with Colby, my mileage tracker said 6.1 miles total.

Will definitely go back to run this loop.

Very clear and well marked trail. Only a small amount of elevation and up/downhill sections. Trailhead is easy to find. The loop portion might only be 4.3 miles, but the total distance is definitely closer to 6.

2 mi loop. 3 mi to see everything. Plenty of deer & ospreys in the area. Everywhere in the forest you'll hear the roar of some distant rolling surf. Beautiful views of Dam, Marsh, & Ocean.

Beautiful summit view of the ocean and the beach is an absolute gem. The “trail” is just a road fluctuating between dirt & pavement. The terrain is easy, the incline is a good workout, especially since it’s out & back so you have to climb the mountain twice. I’ll be back

Great walk! Leads right to an amazing beach!

on Popham Beach

family favorite

An unseasonable warm December day for an amazing hike with great photo opportunities. Highly recommended!

Amazing hike on a Nature Conservancy property. The hike inlcuded woods, a salt marsh, and spectacularly secluded beach. I met an Ornithologist and we identified and counted migratory birds. He taught me a lot about gulls and seals too. What a fantastic experience! I recommend this hidden gem for all.

I really liked this hike a lot because we met a local lobster fisherman, toured old Fort Popham, walked the beach, went swimming in the ocean, ate a good lunch, and took a ferry to Seguin Island.

Absolutely gorgeous! The hills are rough but it is so worth it!

An easy mountain to conquer on your way to the gorgeous view of Sewall Beach! Bring your bugspray or be prepared to feed bugs in some spots. Loved the mossy woods on the way in ~ reminds me of a great staging for fairy land. Plenty of rocks on the beach for kids to climb. Sadly, no bathrooms at either end of the trail. One of my favorite local hidden treasures!

The waterfall and nearby meadow were beautiful!! It was a nice long walk/hike. The trail markers could have been more updated but aside from that it was great!

Gorgeous here!

Only two parking spaces. Super easy hike. Nice water views

A nice long walk but the only point of interest is the pond. Ended up adding 1.5 miles to the trip because the trail head was not clearly marked and we started a second loop.

Great hike....a beautiful walk through the woods.....lots of ridge lines, pine forests, fern fields, bogs and bridges, and a serene pond...BUT pay close attention to the loop's intersection with the trail's tail that leads back to the parking lot on Basin Rd. It's very easy to miss! We actually started back around the loop before we figured out we had missed the junction. It's on a ridge line...there is a cairn that might be attempting to point to the opening for the junction with a pointy, jagged top rock but just make a mental and photographic note of its location at the beginning of the hike. The tail part of the trail from the parking area to the start of the loop is about a half mile. I think a few strategically placed trail signs would be super helpful!☺️

You can walk to the Island when the water parts and find a bunch of Sand Dollars. Absolutely Beautiful. The fort at the end is something you want to adventure down towards

Great photography ops! Love this trail.

We love it!

Quiet, beautiful and makes for a lovely walk in the snow

Excellent trail. Definitely not easy as listed. Very steep hills but so worth it when you get to the beach. Just amazing!!! But bring bug spray!!!!!

A really nice, easy hike rewarded by a beautiful beach with fantastic waves. Glad I read previous reviews about both bringing bug spray AND arriving before 10 for parking. We arrived at 10:02 and got one of the last spots. As we were starting our hike cars were already being turned away. -- Also note there are no bathroom or changing facilities at trailhead or beach.

Short hike to beautiful beach on a gravel road.

Nice easy hike with the kids. The beach was huge and very pretty. The kids had a great time looking for shells in the surf. They found over a dozen sand dollars. The greenheads and mosquitoes were out of control, so bug spray really is a must.
