Quite possibly my favorite hiking route in Maine, though there are several good options for appreciating Tumbledown! I like this route, using the Little Jackson Connector and the Parker Ridge Trail to ascend to the pond, because it's a much (much!) less-trafficked route than going up the Brook Trail. (Tumbledown is one of the more popular hiking destinations in Maine. It also allows you to do a longer hike and make a loop out of it. Plus, and this is the real highlight, the view of the Tumbledown summit and pond as you cross Parker Ridge are unbeatable. I do this route at least once a season, and it's equally spectacular in the summer or the fall. This isn't necessarily a good route for a novice, but if I have visitors from away who are competent on a trail, this is where I take them to wow them.

there's so much diversity on this hike. beautiful views before yo get to the top. cranberries and blueberries abound! one of my favorites.
