Great snowshoeing trail along the brook.

Easy hike, fabulous views, especially considering the effort.

This is a great, easy trail. One of our favorite places to hike.

We did this one in the fall as well, and it really is more easy than moderate. Snowshoes weren’t really necessary, because it is a snowmobile trail, and nicely packed. A couple of snowmobiles went by as we hiked, we simply stepped to the side and let them pass. I personally did not feel this took away from the hike in anyway. It is nearly mid March so the snow was on the softer side. I would recommend crampons, or any sort of traction device for the push up near the summit, it is not steep really, but still for safety, a good idea.

Awesome short hike. Went in March, so the trail was completely covered in ice and snow. The waterfalls and river frozen over made for an incredible sight. We were lucky that snowshoe tracks made navigating the trail less slippery, but there are plenty of trees along the route to grab on to when balance feels precarious. If you’ve never seen the trail in winter, it is definitely worthwhile!

Great views for such a short hike.

Love the Northern Loop & Boundary trails. Varied forests & beautiful trails.

I have done this walk many times over the years. The trail passes over family land. Love the river.

love the rail trail

This is a wonderful urban trail system with well-marked trails of green, yellow, red and white markers. Portland Trails has done a great job marking and maintaining the trail (including pointing out what plants are invasive). There are several marked posts containing a number but I have yet to find what these numbers represent. Hopefully, someone will post what they represent. Dogs can run free once they get beyond 300 yards from the parking area.

Not challenging at all. Very disappointing. Pics made it look like you went to a top of a quarry. You don't. It's a loop around an old landfill and a tiny bit of woods to walk in. Basically an extension of the dog park.

Awesome place with a beautiful lake shore and not too crowded.

Well marked and easy to traverse, but every dog was off-leash, which made it hard to walk with my 3 year old. He kept getting knocked over by excited puppies. The trail was to supposed to be a leashed area, so we weren’t expecting that.

Great trail! Awesome view of the lake and Mt.Washington

Good trail, will keep it in mind for summer runs. Hard to follow at points - very clearly marked sometimes, but be careful not to venture too far north particularly on snowmobile trails and get off track

so we'll marked and easy to follow. beautiful trees and side trails.

Two inches of fresh powder. Perfect day.

Pretty walk. Lots of evidence of Sasquatch, if you have met Todd, you will understand. It's not a loop, I repeat: this is not a loop!

This is a great little walk in any season. Easy to follow as the trail is well marked with yellow arrows.

One of my absolute favorite things in Bangor, Maine. This is the road-less-traveled in the City Forest, where only the bravest seem to venture. Clocking in at 3.8 miles round trip, this trail is great for bikers, runners and cross-country skiiers alike. Unlike the Main Loop Trail which is a gravel path, this one isn't the best for strollers (not impossible, but it's not as flat).

This is a nice trail that includes some good views of Clarks Pond even though it is bordered by a mall and highways. A little noisy but a good workout. In winter I saw signs of hikers, fat tire bikes, and cross-country skiers.

great snowshoeing trail

This trail is groomed in the winter so it makes for a good winter hike. You should wear microspikes as there are some icy sections. Winter views are better than summer.

Loon Echo recently added some nature information signs which are quite informative and should be great stop and discuss places for families. Thank you LEA.

Perfect trail right in Portland

One of my favorite loop trails. I usually do 3 laps.

Short trek around the remains of a municipal landfill. Not well traveled. The White Trail is well marked but the Yellow Trail markings are far and few between. Nice place for the dogs to run with several small ponds to check out.

Nicely groomed, should probably be listed as “easy”. Thank you!

I love these trails. They are so well maintained, and extremely well marked. Do all the loops and you can easily over 10 miles. Take one of the atv trails that intersect the trails and you can go for 100s of miles. Rolling hills and a great mix between wide open cross country ski trails, and single track technical snow shoe trails. My dog and I love these trails. I run here 4-7 times a week and I'm never disappointed.

Took about 45 minutes to do! Short and sweet walk with decent views at the top. Very easy trail.

Did this yesterday with my 14 year old dog who is in great shape. Lots of side trails to add to the mileage. Beautiful changes in scenery. Not sure why this is rated as moderate. I love it!
